Just for fun.
I've recently watched the TV series Crossbones (can't believe I missed it first time around) and it had me thinking - as a lifelong pirate enthusiast, how great it would be to be in the position of Blackbeard and run my own little island; all pirates and misfits welcome.Which other pirate centric films/shows and books do you enjoy?
All the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are number one for me I watched them all at least 5 times now 🙂 another good movie is :Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Crossbones looks interesting I'll have to check it out, I don't know how I missed it as well.I have no time for TV anymore but have to throw my vote behind @itsmenotyou, the entire POTC series is brilliant.
By the way, how many are familiar with Alfred E. Newman and "What, me worry?" I read the magazine religiously growing up.@Ethiopia Mad Magazine is pretty good I love the Spy VS Spy 🙂
another good movie is : Against the Ice it's set In 1909, two explorers fight to survive after they're left behind while on a Denmark expedition in ice-covered Greenland.I just thought of another good one but once again it's not about Pirates but I liked it.

I much preferred the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films to the newer ones.
Of recently made TV series; I also liked Black Sails. As far as really old films/books go, I enjoyed Frenchman's Creek - both the novel and the film. Of course, it goes without saying that Treasure Island ranks way up there as being a favourite book. But, there was also a series that my mum recorded on VHS back in the eighties or early nineties, that I watched and rewatched religiously; once I discovered it amongst her vast collection of taped films/series' called Return to Treasure Island. Brian Blessed played Long John Silver - I love Brian Blessed; he's chews up the scenery regardless of what he's acting in.
But one of my overall favourites is a book called The Ghost in the Noonday Sun by Sid Fleischman. I first read it when I was eight years old whilst recovering from peritonitis caused by a ruptured appendix in the hospital. I loved that book so much that the staff allowed me keep it when I was being discharged. I still re-read it to this day.

@itsmenotyou .. especially good ones were when Grey Spy (Lady in Grey) also came in.. 😀
I accumulated a ton of magazines while living in the Netherlands in the 70s, but threw them all out during one of my moves. Zippy the Pinhead was one of my favorites but now obviously not PC these days, and the Chester character from Hustler Magazine... well the less said about him the better. Larry Flynt defended it as bawdy social satire, um... I think not. We really had no filter in the 70s.
