The link is to a video to convert Genesis 8 character to 8.1 but you can do the same and convert 8.1 to 8, just load the 8.1 and save as shown then load onto your 8 character. Link to video youtube.com/watch?v=H0FccQ27gyM&t=459s
February 17, 2022 at 5:16 PM #1777518i was not aware that that process works backwards and forwards... good to know!!
February 18, 2022 at 1:55 PM #1777779tried to convert 8.1 to 8.0... and failed... whats the trick to convert? i couldn't do it... when i select the g8 and click on the g8.1 ,i dont get the dialog box... it just spawns another g8.1.
February 18, 2022 at 3:44 PM #1777816Same here! Would really like to know how it is done!
February 18, 2022 at 5:18 PM #1777842AFAIK there's no need to convert G8 morphs to G8.1, just select your G8.1 and click the character shape you want since 8.1 loads all your 8 morphs on load. You can even move the G8 morphs you want to keep into the G8.1 morphs folder and go into data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Add-ons\Daz 3D\Base and delete DAZAddonPath.dsf so it won't load any G8 morphs you choose not to put in your 8.1 folder.
February 18, 2022 at 6:36 PM #1777866@oldwolf 8.0 to 8.1 is easy... but, im trying to go back... convert an 8.1 morph to 8.0...
February 18, 2022 at 6:39 PM #1777868For converting morph from G8.1 to G8 you can use transfer utility.
Read this post for instruction.
Just instead of G3M use G8.1 and, instead of G3F use G8.
one more thing, you do not need clone for this particular case because G8.1 and G8 exactly have the same shape, just skip that part.February 18, 2022 at 7:28 PM #1777891Thanks..@ehrez i appreciate the info... ill try that... i did have success by exporting the character as an obj file... i deleted all the items G8.1 comes with and brought it down to resolution level "base" and sub level 1... once exported i imported it back thru morph loader... and it picked it up...
February 19, 2022 at 1:57 PM #1778121Here is the way in daz "Mr. L has finally got the morph process, for sure. And there isn't much to it - basically inside of Daz just select your figure, select under Tools the Joint Editor, then right-click and Choose Edit/Rename Node. You'll see that for the Genesis 8.1 avatars the node name is Genesis 8.1 (Male/Female). Just change it to Genesis 8 (male/female). He also changes the Node label to the same but I'm not sure that's needed (can't hurt, though). Save as normal and import as normal, with Advanced (for the clothing textures) but don't bake the avatar textures. That's it.
Now - this won't bring over those avatar textures. His first method *might* do that, but it's pretty complicated. However, I think I have enough now to contact the devs to see if they will make this very minor change to at least get the avatar morphs over (they just need to account for the node name being different - I'm sure now they check)."

February 19, 2022 at 2:02 PM #1778123Jinx the hotlink you gave is blocked by anomizer can you give a nothot link to it by deleting the hhtp(etc) I would like to try that way too as the results from what I am doing works but some morphs are deformed when converted to 8.0 character
thanksFebruary 19, 2022 at 2:17 PM #1778127Here you are
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1866876/#Comment_1866876February 19, 2022 at 3:36 PM #1778182@greatbizarro i tried changing the name node on a G8.1... but there are no options to change it to Genesis 8 (male/female)... there's only the Genesis 8.1 (Male/Female) option that appears... bummer!
February 19, 2022 at 7:21 PM #1778236I have gotten it to work on a few characters and not had luck with others. The more radical the morph is from the original base figure the less likely it will work.
March 1, 2022 at 1:07 AM #1780866Here is a video on how to plus a fix for the textures not converting : youtube.com/watch?v=nw1083ZBIks
March 8, 2022 at 2:45 PM #1783012Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't 8.1 and 8 use the same base mesh but the difference is in the rigging and UVs?
In which case the absolute best way to transfer morphs is to dial in the morph in base resolution 8.1, export it to a Obj file, then use the morph loader to load it in as a g8 morph.
Absolutely perfect 1-1 conversion.
