Just recently Genesis 9 came out.
Im very disappointed with the new generation, because it did not turn out very well and does not support the previous one. (just whyyyy)
Actually, there are those who want to convert from genesis 9 into Genesis 8/8.1?
Btw it would be nice to make an exclusive for the zonegfx 😉I would love to see a tool for converting G9F hairs to G8F, it looks like a vendor like OOT is only going for G9 from now on which is really sad...
Converting characters and clothes would also be nice.
shoot i want to know how people are converting G8 to G9 characters. i seen some posts here doin it. i have some custom g8 i want to be on g9
This would be nice, I'd love a script to be able to do it myself. But would appreciate it just as much if someone were to convert them and post them here.
For sure, it would be great to have a script tool that could convert everything G9 to G8.1.
Here is hoping some talented scripter comes up with it.
RSA promised a V4-V8 character converter many years ago, but never came up with it.
I suspect Daz nixxed it.
That is what likely will happen with G9-G8.1 Converters too.

You can do it all from Daz Studio. It will take a little work, but certainly doable. For the most part, clothing just needs to be loaded onto Genesis 9 and then the hidden Genesis 8 morph applied to Genesis 9 (legs will need minor adjustments). Once that is done you can export your static obj and then start the transfer process. I have a few ideas about dForce hair, but I'm not in front of my computer, so I can't test my thoughts out.
Sadly I think that they(Daz) are going to fight any such backward G9 to G8 scripts. Something about the way this figure was released just seems a little off to me, almost as if they want to compel the customers to forget their old figures and just jump straight into this new one. Lately, a majority of the new outfits are G9, and the G8 new releases are dwindling already. Even G3 had a bit more time to slowly ebb away.
It doesn't make sense to me to have an outfit in the store made exclusively for a brand new figure that has so few assets, when there is already an established model that is still making money. Why go all in on one and not want the revenue that just adding a G8/8.1 version of that same outfit would bring?
Unless Daz is pushing this for their own reasons?Have people just stopped buying G8 suddenly?

No shit... that's exactly what G9 was designed for, ie, start the buying cycle all over again. Personally I've seen absolutely nothing that would justify moving to G9, for me at least. It's buggy and harder to work with and the so-called better realism could have easily been done with the existing G8.I am making a point of not buying G9 & am still very much buying into G8!
That way the vendors should get the message, if they want sales.
Daz3D is not the only store outlet so them trying to shut down on G9-G8.1 Conversion Scripts should not really be a problem.
It will just pop up at CGBytes, 'Rosity or Renderhub.

@Frank21 Every one of their new figures was born from the wish to make money, of course. But this time the release just seems desperate somehow?
@eelgoo Me too! They make a G9 to G8 clothing/character converter than I will buy. But until then if all they will offer are G9 items in the marketplace I will just spend more at the other sites.Someone on Youtube posted a video on how to convert/autofit G9 clothes to 8/8.1, and they pinned a comment saying it works for hair.
Well, that is a step forward.
Characters would be handy too.
I appreciate that these methods may not be straight forward & require some level of skill, concentration and aptitude.
That part of the process has to be gone through in order to develop a streamlined & easy scripted solution.
Unfortunately, I don't have the skill set necessary to do that, and hope that there will be folk able & willing to progress the issue.:0/
