September 17, 2018 at 4:09 AM #764581Thanks for the contest, @aftyrbyrn.
Congrats to jumperduke and doggod for their winning entries.TBH, I had issues doing my entry because it gave me a lot of anxiety. Being buried alive is one of my worst fears.

September 18, 2018 at 12:32 AM #765823@drgnmztr, ever hear the term dead ringer? Do you know where that came from? Product of the Savannah Georgia grave yard during one of the really bad flu outbreaks, where the heart would almost stop for days, people wouldn't know that they weren't dead, they were burying people alive, so they started tying strings to peoples fingers that got buried. It would go up a pipe from the coffin, to a bell outside, and if they weren't all the way dead, and started to come too, the bell would ring.
It's also where the term graveyard shift came from. They had 24/7 monitoring during that and watchmen would be posted in the graveyard listening for the bells to ring.
(even though the stories are argued back and forth on the net, i like that one the best)
September 18, 2018 at 5:31 AM #766045yeah. I've heard of it. Never soothed my anxiety.
