Is there a way to convert genesis clothing to genesis 2?
July 27, 2019 at 3:03 PM #1178331I must admit, i never heard of a tool that could "convert" Genesis clothing to Genesis 2 specicaly.
If you have Genesis 2 essential intalled (it come free with Daz studio), Daz studio automatically allow you to auto-fit Genesis clothing to Genesis 2. (Male and Female)
July 27, 2019 at 11:21 PM #1178819Hey, @CHECKIT1414 when i do that with some clothes just don't fit and stay misplaced
July 28, 2019 at 3:13 AM #1178992@Sauronwar : Can you give more detail on what you are trying to do/use ? Which character are you using ? What cloth are you trying to auto-fit ?
When using a Genesis 2 figure, if you use a Genesis 2 piece of clothing, most of the time, all you have to do is select your character in your scene, then in your librairy, double click on the piece of clothing and Daz will automaticaly fit that piece of clothing on the character.
But when using a piece of clothing for another generation, doing that won't work. Sometime, it'll pop up the Auto-fit scripted box and ask you how to auto-fit this piece of clothing for that character, because it is not made for that generation, (Assuming you have already the tools of that generation for the auto-fit script.)
but most of the time, it just won't fit the piece of clothing at all. It'll just spawn the cloth in the scene, not parented or fitted to anything. (I'm assuming this is what you are seeing!)Here is what you should do to make sure you ask Daz Studio to auto-fit a piece of clothing to a character. ( Those step work for everything you are trying to auto-fit to a character, regarless of the generation of the clothing and of the character.)
- Find the icon of the piece of clothing you want to fit on a character in your librairy.
- Left click on the icon with your mouse and hold the button of your mouse down. <---- IMPORTANT
- While keeping your button down, drag your cursor all the way over your character. You'll see a slight change near your mouse cursor with a little " + " symbol next to it. This indicate you are doing things right.
- Once you mouse over your character (It's not important what part of the body you mouse over. But it's HAS to be a part of your character body, and not another object he/she is wearing.), wait about 3 secondes. You should see a dropdown menu appearing under your mouse. Move your mouse to where it is written "Fit to XXX" (XXX is the name of your character it has in your scene tab.) Remember to keep doing all of this while still holding your mouse button down !
- Then, release your mouse button. The Auto-fit script box should pop up and it'll ask you how do you want to auto-fit that piece of clothing on your character.
Ex: In the case of a Genesis cloting, In the first box, you have to pick "Genesis" and in the second box, to what part of the body this piece of clothing goes. And voila!!! That's how you auto-fit a piece of clothing "manually" in Daz studio when the program isn't cooperating with you.
If it still doesn't work, feel free to give us more explanation on what you are trying to do.

July 28, 2019 at 6:13 PM #1179828Cheers fella ! And happy rending.
P.S: If you want to auto-fit V4 clothing or G3 clothing to Genesis 2, you'll need to fetch the auto-fit expansion script made for it. As they don't come initialy with Daz Studio. They are available here on the Zone.
