    You didn't, I did.. LOL
    The pantywaist movement started in the late 80s, early 90's and has continued to grow. JENNY JONES!!! She was the first talk show host I remember who started the whole don't spank your kid crap.
    I'm not into abusing a child. I was beat by my step dad and humiliated on numerous occasions. But those weren't spankings. People are too stupid to know the difference.
    But I turned out OK. So those shrinks can suck my big toe. 🙂

    Some how, some where, some one, had the bright idea to take away school punishment ( the cane )
    When that happened something very important was lost in society = Respect.
    When we lost respect in the kids, then that was the end of the world as we knew it.

    No respect for the elderly, the teachers, the parents, or the police.

    The very people that are needed to guide the our young generation had lost their power.

    Today we see the results from all those do gooders.

    Honestly, I don't feel corporal punishment should be handed out by anyone other than parents.

    @ariakas
    , thats as far out in left field as the Andromeda Galaxy. Nobody is talking about sweatshops and child labor.

    I agree about the corporal punishment, but there has to be some kind of discipline handed out in school that will make them respect their elders...and detention isn't the answer to that one either. I know that when I was in detention, it was like 'ooh, sleepy time... wake me up when it's time to go...'

    I only got detention once in High School. Can't remember what we did.

    For one, parents notified. Then for detention, sitting around may be boring but its doable and basically a joke.. So , they could do simple school cleanup or some kind of chores. Maybe a behavioral lesson. Something to where they're getting something out of it.

    If a child (up to the age of 18) needs corporal punishment in school maybe he/she doesn't need to be in school.

    "they could do simple school cleanup or some kind of chores"-in my state (Idaho) that's now against the law.

    Then the law makers are a bunch of pantywaists in Idaho. And thats what I'm talking about. What harm can keeping a school clean cause? NONE..
