I had a look at the request for the new XI Royal Palace Bundle. It's over 60 bucks yet everyone is only offering a measly 500 points.
I'm thinking of buying it and posting it publicly just to piss off any filler.October 16, 2024 at 10:57 am #2095994People don't want it to be to difficult, they see a button and click...
I guess 75% of the people who offer points haven't seen the up down buttons 😉October 16, 2024 at 11:00 am #2095998It'll be showing up in upcoming posts soon...I couldn't resist *snicker*
October 16, 2024 at 1:14 pm #2096005I've always thought that if 500 pts was the standard offer for a single asset, we should be multiplying that by the number of assets included in a bundle. The old request method was far from perfect, but it did leave a filler with the option of excluding cheapskates.
October 16, 2024 at 1:30 pm #2096012I initially didn't even think about it, just hit the buttons on auto-pilot. I feel like 500 pts per $20 is fair. If everyone did that, it should equate to a quite a sum well worth filling I would think.
40 requesters x 1,500 = 60,000 pts for a $60~ bundle on sale
The current total @ 28,000 pts; you're certainly right to call it out Ethiopia.
October 16, 2024 at 1:56 pm #2096014If any bundle appears, I immediately post the 500 pts, out of respect for
the work, effort, expense involved. Also as a form of signing a petition
After reading contents, if I can use any of it, I up the offer a couple
of thousand.
If I can really, really, use it, I withdraw the offer, buy the
item and fill the request.Point being don't feel the initial offer of 500 pts is an insult.
(Also a means of bookmarking the item for later, they tend to
disappear)October 16, 2024 at 3:42 pm #2096028I don't feel that offering points is any way to compensate for sharing something since points are worthless and everyone here gets them automatically.
I bought it because I LOVE that sort of thing and will use the heck out of it.
I've asked Monk to lengthen the wait time for upcoming posts since 7 days is waaay too short in my opinion. A large and expensive bundle like that should be sat on for a couple of months to let the creator make a pile of money first. I won't use the 'fill request' in the Requests thread since I know darned well that there's people from those shit-sharing sites that will post it on their sites as soon as they get their creepy little fingers on it.October 16, 2024 at 3:59 pm #2096036The problem comes if points is your only goal.
If so, posting/filling becomes a race
I have purchased an item, downloaded it, uploaded it to the file site, gotten
link, came back to the request to find it already filled.
One time two of us filled at the same time (true)
All you have said is true and became moot for me a few days ago.
Speaking for myself, a few days ago I hit 5 million pts.
At 50 points public,500 points private do not need more.
In future will only be buying (and fulfilling requests) on items I
truly want/need.
If posted here will offer maximum points to insure requests are filled
But to sum up, you are correct in one aspect. If a person fills a request for a bundle
he/she deserves more than 500 point just on the work alone.
In past although I received a bundle for 500 pts, I sent extra to the fillerOctober 16, 2024 at 4:48 pm #2096042? what's the difference if it's a bundle item OR multiple items ? a person can spend $$$ on multiple items and still only get 500 pts per request and some times there are not many requests for said items , soo I guess a person should be able to DICKtate how many pts they should receive.
October 16, 2024 at 5:02 pm #2096045Sooooo don't bother filling request.
No Dicktate neededOctober 16, 2024 at 5:04 pm #2096046Already has reduced number who can donate........by 1
October 16, 2024 at 5:09 pm #2096048On broader terms, I HATE the whole request thing. To me it pushes people to share for psuedo-money instead of for the good of all. I'm also convinced that it keeps items off of the blog. I see someone requesting that the item NOT be shared on the blog since they will at some point. They don't and when someone else finally posts it, the original filler goes ballistic. I'm sure that some of the requesters and maybe fillers are from the shit-sites and are trying to get content at their crap-sites while keeping it from here for as long as possible. I'm also sure that some, (many?) folks won't buy and post because they see it being requested and wait for it to show up.
October 16, 2024 at 5:10 pm #2096049And yeah, life is hard when you're poor...
Wouldn't know
"Let 'em eat cake"October 16, 2024 at 5:14 pm #2096050How can you only have 100 points? You get that every day. Do you download everything and not contribute anything? This was never meant to be a free-for-all, the idea of the points was to encourage people to buy stuff and share it. If a person is THAT broke then they need to find a cheaper hobby...or learn to make items and sell them. There's several creators that started as pirates and at some point decided to get in the game of making stuff. One in particular I've known since the usenet days.
October 16, 2024 at 5:31 pm #2096052To be clear and to underline a concept that seems foreign to
some.
No one gave me the 5 million points.
I did not "buy" them.
I accumulated them by buying items and sharing with
my fellow members, some of whom might not be able to afford
these items on their own. In dozen and dozens of cases I fulfilled
requests to be thanked by only 1 or 2. Most bitched about bunkr, without
which I would have been banned countless times.
If you look at the numbers, could have stopped at 1 million. 2 million,
3 million eetc. Could have just bought the item and left it at that. no aggravation, no hassle.
But there are members here who truly appreciated what I tried to do.
There is one member who has thanked for for every request I ever filled.
......and English is not his language
That is why I feel a small twinge of regret going forward -
