as the title says, if i install in a custom folder of my own a celebrity series pack it says missing textures and some other files.
If i just throw it in the daz folder system it works but good luck finding anything in the cesspool that is the folder tree of daz.
So is there any way to fix this? If not tough luck for me
ps by fix i mean install it in the custom folder i have
December 10, 2020 at 12:19 PM #1648880You should be able to install the .duf file in a custom folder. But the content will probably have to be installed where the .duf is looking for it. Textures are usually in the 'runtime' folder.
Your options are to:
1. install the missing files where the .duf is looking for them
2. know where you installed the missing files and when the missing file window pops up in DS, browse to where the files are and select them (doesn't always work for me)
3. customize the .duf file to look for the missing files in your customized locationThere may be more options.
December 10, 2020 at 12:25 PM #1648881Thanks Ulysses i will try the first idea to see how it goes. Daz should really do something about the folder system, it is hideous. Absolutely hideous and the search option is not working either
December 10, 2020 at 6:52 PM #1648958Yes, it is always a mess.
Unfortunately MDC do not use a properly nested path for the texture files.
They are just dumped in 'Textures' directly under the model reference. If you wish to attempt to sort out the mess, see here my stickied thread on Manual Install to Daz Studio.

December 10, 2020 at 8:11 PM #1648968thanks elgo, I will check it out!! from what i understand, daz kept posers file tree format.
Imo the best thing would be a simple system like
genesis 8 female
/hair
/clothes
/shoes etcinstead of 5 daz3d folders or 9 my libraries like i have in mine. Not to mention you click 8 times to get to the folder you need in content library only to find that the product is unusable because some other has overwritten files.
But i fear not. i am sure daz will put out some new product that fixes the library just like the other product that makes stuff appear in smart content(content manager). They just shoot themselves in the foot.
All these from the perspective of a newcomer to 3d rendering world.
