There's a fun thread in our Discord regarding the new clampdown by CC companies on Gumroad and Patreon. Looks like porn will disappear from the net....
March 16, 2024 at 11:48 PM #2064370And two days ago Pornhub blocked access to its website in Texas in response to a new state law requiring age verification of users..... Texans rush to VPNs. The Texas' age verification law requires porn website visitors to prove their age by providing a copy of their government ID. That database will inevitably be hacked and become a wonderful opportunity for blackmail.
It's estimated that 30 to 40% of all internet downloads are related to pornography/erotica so I think they can't simply legislate it away.
Britain tried this but eventually abandoned it in 2019.March 17, 2024 at 12:06 AM #2064375As long as Mankind has existed there has been porn/erotica in one form or another.
Anything between consenting adults is perfectly fine, IMO. It's not to everyone's taste; granted, but so long as there's no one being harmed or exploited, then I don't see a problem. If sites like Patreon ban it, then they're shooting themselves in the foot.
March 17, 2024 at 6:49 AM #2064396Texas...isn't that the state were everyone is carrying guns off some sort?
( just saying. Something with priorities)
No kid ever died from watching nudes........There was a discussion few weeks ago here too, with a dad complaining about NSFW ( in his eyes at least)
After that, I seldom visit here anymore.
I think if yo condone to pirating, but get offended by a nipple ( god forbid), you are pretty f***ed up.
If people want to be so " god fearing and correct"...1 of the 10 commandments states clearly Though shall not steal!
Stop being a Hypocrite, teach you're kids there is nothing wrong with human anatomy. Teach them respect and a mind that still is open to different views. And that their standards are theirs alone, so do not enforce them on the rest off the world.
I think that would be a lot wiser then simply " protect" them from anything " unpleasant.I remember a TV show where parents ( with modern tech), could blur unpleasant pics so there kids would not see violence or ...
The world is not perfect, do not try to make it so!March 17, 2024 at 9:56 AM #2064423I'm all for ensuring kids have a safe childhood.
In adolescence & adulthood however, if you wrap them in cotton wool, you are not preparing them properly for the harsh realities of the real world.:0/
March 17, 2024 at 12:18 PM #2064440It's all about control.
March 17, 2024 at 2:41 PM #2064459I think it's more about some peoples lack of control. - lol
March 17, 2024 at 2:47 PM #2064460@gaver, It's not just Texas. South Carolina just became the 29th state to implement constitutional carry (CC). For those not aware, CC allows citizens to carry guns without any permits, both in the open or concealed. 3/5ths of the states now have it. And there are bills in congress to make CC reciprocal between these states.
March 17, 2024 at 7:30 PM #2064500@Ulysses - I was going to comment along the same lines but thought it might upset some people. That is, the states that claim to be all about personal freedom and small govt. are the same ones that ban library/school books, remove women's fertility control and now control personal access to erotic material. This is the result of bowing to a small minority of religious fundamentalists wanting to rollback church-state separation.

............I was going to comment along the same lines but thought it might upset some people.........
This is the heart of the matter I think. God forbid someone gets upset..
I say let them get upset, traumatised or whatever. If you do not like what you see, do not look. If you do not like what I say, go and talk to someone else.
Run to your church, get one your knees and say a prayer to bribe you're god in not sending you to hell.
But let the rest of the world pave there own way to hell.
What was the saying? Though shall not judge, for though are not god....
Haven't seen many religious people being upset by years of misuse of children by some sort off priest, nun or vicar.
Just saying....

How about X rated movie productions 😉March 17, 2024 at 8:55 PM #2064505American porn movies make too much money to be controlled I would imagine.
March 17, 2024 at 9:04 PM #2064516The world is #$%@ed anyway just a matter of time. The places with the strongest gun laws have the worst gun violence. Anti drug laws did nothing but make a unregulated market for it. As stated its all about what they will allow you to have while they do whatever they want to.
March 17, 2024 at 9:53 PM #2064535"If you do not like what you see, do not look."
Oh but they do look @Gaver, but pretend to others that they don't. The puritanical ones are usually among the worst offenders. As Shakespeare wrote, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks".March 18, 2024 at 12:16 PM #2064693@gaver wrote: "How about X rated movie productions"
What about them? I'm wasn't passing judgement on concealed carry. I was just pointing out that the gun culture in America is embedded to the point that gun rights are becoming looser, not more restrictive. It's not just Texas that has tons of guns. It's the entire country. At least half the world's guns are in the hands of American citizens and gun ownership has increase in every state year over year.
March 19, 2024 at 6:48 AM #2064792The greater the prohibition, the more desire is generated. Sex has always been a taboo: We already see it in prehistory with goddesses of fertility, such as The Venus of Willendorf. And always, due to that part of otherworldly and magical idealization, it has been in the hands of those who have Power, especially since the Neolithic. Something that is normal and implicit in a living being is enthroned as hidden and sordid. A prudish person is shocked to see a mother breastfeeding her baby in public, but sees it as natural to have a gun in her pocket.
Of course, there are sexual practices that are aberrant and that contributes to censorship. But not to weapons...
Everything is so fascinating, so beautiful...
