I supposedly have this item " FG Gothic Library " in my daz db because when i try to install it dim doesnt show it.
When i search in smart content or Db though it does not show up. Why the F@%#$%@#$% cant daz fix its damn foldering system? Or even the search system so when i search something i find it. OR maybe allow me to tag items for easier finding
What am i supposed to search for? Great place of knowledge? Repository of books with stairs? Quiet place of reading? Secret gryffindor farting room? Because FG gothic library i sure as hell cant find. Even tried to search for globes-obelisks-goblets or any other item included in that asset
Its not in props, its not in scenes its not in environments. Sorry for the rant but i have half a mind to quit daz and move to other programs. Surely they cant be as bad as this.

July 26, 2021 at 1:54 PM #1715018I wish daz would fix stuff like that or cutting on loading times instead of hyping the new daz that has only linux support or mac. Search should work period.
July 26, 2021 at 3:37 PM #1715099Typically, when I have something I can't find, I look it up in DIM, right click the item then go to 'Show Installed Files...'
In the window that pops up, it shows me exactly where the files got 'placed', and if they are even there; i.e., if they are not where they belong, then they show up grayed out and italicized.
I realize that this sounds a little like a convoluted process to go through to find something, but considering the fact that I hate using the search function in studio, coupled to the fact that I use DIM for almost everything I install for studio, it makes sense to use it this way.On a side note, if you know you have the file in your DAZ Download folder but it's not showing up in DIM, then there is a problem with the file and may need repair before DIM will 'see' it. Also, file naming is quite important (which I found out recently). The file name consists of two letters followed by eight digits, a hyphen, two more digits (typically -01), an underscore, and the name of the item consisting of upper and lowercase letters and/or numbers. Spaces and special characters are NOT allowed in an IM file name.
July 27, 2021 at 10:55 PM #1715664Did you check to see if it's in LOCAL_USER in All Products or Lost and Found?
The problem with Smart Content isn't with the system itself, it works fine as designed; the problem is with authors who abuse/ignore metadata.
Also, problems with the database are usually user-malfunction and failure to let DIM do its job correctly (installing removing manually)That being said, if you have installed a product, and you *know* it's in your Daz3D Library, do one of 2 things to remind yourself where its install path is-
*Look it up in DIM (if you used that to install) and right click the label, choose "Show Installed Files..."
or
*Open your original package and dig into the Content folder to see what folders the files got put, and what they are named.Of course, you could always try to find the files using Search in Windows Exploder.
Note that once you installed a product, and it is registered in the DB, it remains registered even if it is uninstalled or the files go missing. This is so that Daz knows to give the option to install offline products. You can always delete a database product entry by going to >Products in the Content Browser, find the product (it will be grayed-out if not present in runtime or uninstalled), right-click the entry and choose "Delete..." It new entry will be created again if the content is re-installed.
You can also easily fix DIM's installed files registry:
Click the "Settings" gear icon in top right corner
Choose "Advanced Settings..."
in the popup window go to "Installation" tab
at the bottom of the panel you will see a display with "Label | Path" showing the path to your Daz Library. Right-click that path and choose "Fix Installed File Registry..."
When it finishes you can hit "Accept" and you're done.
The installed files list can get screwed up if DIM-installed content is removed manually or if certain products share or overwrite parts of other products.Hope some of this is helpful =^-^=
