First thanks to Avalon for sharing DS4.20.02.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to have (install & run) two versions of DS on one PC? And if so what I need to do. I've had three versions running before on my old PC but one was GR and the others betas which I know you can do, but I've never had 2 general releases on one PC before.
I'm not quite ready to pull the plug on 4.15 and I'd like to see what 4.20 is like before I do.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks LP. I do have 4.15 backed up but I was wondering if I could have two installed at the same time. Probably not worth the hassle of trying. I wonder where I could get my hands on a v4.20 Public Build (BETA) version that will play nicely with the 4.15 GR?
Yeh I know. That's why I thought of getting a beta for 4.20. But Daz don't provide earlier versions when a new one is released. And I suppose I'd need to update Nvidia which might not work properly with 4.15.
A really fancy solution would be to use virtualization.
You can make any number of virtual machines with something like VirtualBox, each with their own installation, appdata, etc... and you could set it up so that each uses it's own version of the GPU drivers, but sharing the video device can sometimes be tricky.
I would only recommend it if you have lots of coffee and a masochistic streak. 🙂
Thanks Amber. The only reasons why I'm hesitant to upgrade DS is because of the Ghost Light thing which will screw up my old scenes, and because 4.15 has been very stable for me.
