Hey superxtramp, Thanks for Amelie. She looks sweet. I Like her teeth.
I found Amelie very late in your render...So dark in there.This is such a moving render. The silly pic with the girl's dog of when she was happy creates a contrast to help establish her feeling of sadness and despair. I like the limpness in her left arm, it's like she doesn't have the will to hold the book properly or to put it down. Utter despair. The light is just awesome. The character placement, pose and expression is very good. If you look closely her tears are visible. Looks like she took pills? The cosmetics might elude to an attempt to fit into the main stream societal view of beauty that she tried to mimic but possibly fell short in? Who's the guy outside the window? Her Mr. Right? 🙂

I had an even darker render, where pretty much the lights were still there and she was still barely even visible. Symbolism, you know? Anyway, no problem for the freebie.Thanks for commenting!
You nailed everything I was going for. The book is actually those new folding phones and she was IMing her mother to come get her **EDIT** (and her mom suddenly ignoring her pleas) **EDIT**. (She is supposed either be at a boarding school or college dorm room. I guess it doesn't matter which.) Couldn't really fit all the exposition into the scene and making the image higher resolution just so people could read the text didn't fit into my scheduling 😛
As for the person in the window reflection, that isn't some creeper or peeping tom. That is just a reflection of the tv, mounted on the wall. It's an image from a documentary called Bully. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bully_(2011_film)

Wonderful image Kefka albeit a little sad. Yeh we all know about Catholic schools. You really need to do a follow up image of her a) getting even or b) becoming friends with those who bullied her.

I'm about to upgrade intel 11th gen cpu / motherboard but will not be buying a gpu till after the bit-mining bs. Maybe I'll wait till next year. For now I'm stuck with smaller scenes and usually run denoiser so I can get quicker results.
This one i let run overnight and it was still rendering when I got up. There are a few things I don't like about it like how flat the tears look / the stars shining through the curtain / etc but it was just a promo pic that I put together for the character I was sharing, so I didn't bother fixing anything.
Anyway, thanks for the comment and I hope to see more of your renders!
