Hi all. I'm starting out in Daz by making characters, women in particular. End goal is an adult visual novel/simple video game with some animated sequences but largely photo renders. I want the characters to be life-like, but for the sake of character creation for now, life-like is at the edge of real-life plausible if that makes sense. (Think porn stars like Ryan Conner, Joslyn James, Jada Stevens, or hip hop video models, or the main characters from Apocalust, etc.) For now, I'm working on shaping super voluptuous decently and nailing down a system for facial expressions. Real women seem easier, so I'm figuring out the uber porn stars first and dialing it back later.

As far as facial expressions, getting a realistic and genuine smile is my main goal. It seems to be so lacking in everything I've seen thus far. Without the eyes smiling, it's a fake smile, right?

I'm using the umpteen point facial morph for Genesis 8 but I'm limited to translate on the side. Holding left click and dragging such-and-such node to raise the eyebrows or cheek bones doesn't work for some reason. It just manipulates the head even though I lock selection on it. Any suggestions for morphs and methods would be awesome.

As far as bodies, I'd like to hear your thoughts on proportions and ratios and all that. I'm good with natural or real breasts. Depends. THE BUTT IMPLANT LOOK = NASTY! Real, albeit idealized thighs (not bow-legged), butt, hips, and the corresponding ratios for a female body are what I need. I'd like to make the non-breast stuff fairly natural.

This is a world where a 10" tool is average, so...idealized but plausible.

Any input, suggestions for morphs, characters, etc would be appreciated. Suggestions for a realistic and skin matching thing for genitals and other naughty bits would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'm going to disregard almost every question you asked concerning realistic skins/morphs/genitals and schlong sizes and say this instead.. ENJOY! šŸ˜€

I'm going to give you the best advice you'll ever get.

    1. Don't even bother.

There are so many games out there that have great visuals and a lot of work put into them that will never succeed because people flock to only a select few. Back about 5 years ago you could create a patreon, spend about a week creating something, shovel your shitware into F95 and reap the benefits. Not anymore..

    2. Stay consistent.

If you make a VN/VG then you will need to remain consistent throughout the project. That doesn't always mean release dates. Everyone can understand an issue in your personal life, if you stay in contact with your audience/patreons. Amazingly this (sometimes fraudulent) maneuver still works today but that doesn't mean you should just vanish off the face of the earth. No matter what though, NEVER create more than one game at a time, especially if you are a new artist. It is the best way to lose the interest of your audience.

But by consistent I mean, keep your render style and the overarching visual complexity at a consistent level. Nothing is more of a turn-off then seeing a visual quality drop from one picture to the next. This also means that once you make a character, do not suddenly change their look (progressive changes in their looks are okay, though. Or some background narrative on why they changed their look will help qualm some hate but honestly I just wouldn't do it.). So be sure that you know how your characters will look before moving into the scene rendering stage.

    3. Start your project on a site that specializes in this field.

IE F95. In fact this is where you should have taken this question in the first place. The reason that you want to establish yourself in these websites is because you can get better feedback on what is great/not so great about your game. You could get SOME of that feedback on your patreon but if they already decided to join your patreon, chances are they already enjoy it and won't badmouth much. Plus sites such as F95 are going to take your game anyway, so you should just post it first and earn some brownie points in the process. All of that, plus putting it on a site like F95 will help you advertise the game, and control the amount of content you are willing to share freely.. sometimes. šŸ˜€

    4. Do what makes you comfortable.

If you don't like certain situations or character looks that people suggest, don't do it! You will find yourself slowly hating your own game, and in turn looking to escape said game. Just stick to what you enjoy or you might burn yourself out.

This goes with the question you've asked: "As far as bodies, I’d like to hear your thoughts on proportions and ratios and all that." Those aren't questions you should ask, the characters should appease you most of all because again, if you find yourself hating what you created based on feedback from others, you will burn yourself out.

A game created by you, should be from you. Suggestions on some direction and progress is fine but I believe that if people believe in their work, then others will too. Except for my work, because everyone hates it. This will not only keep you happy but will definitely increase your workflow.

    5. DO NOT TURN IN A HALF ASS FIRST ITERATION.

If you feel very committed to making this happen, do not create a .01 iteration of the game with less than a couple hours of gameplay. NOT IN THIS DAY AND AGE. It doesn't have to be filled with copious amounts of sex and renders, though plenty of it wouldn't hurt. Be sure to tell a story, though. Don't just add paragraphs of monologue, though. The writing part may be the hardest part of the game. You need to catch the audience with some fresh dialogs and banter and character development. This in my opinion will be the hardest part of creating a proper game that people will want to help finance.

So there is my thoughts on what you should do..

    - If you are just creating a VN/Adult VG for the LOLs then disregard everything I said.

    - Take care

I am working on a kind of comic for a dear friend. It is lots of work, and she suggested I put it up for sale on completion. But as said above, there is an abundance done already. I enjoy the creation, but have noo intention of making money out of it.
There are to many studios with more people and better hardware, storydevelopers, character developers etc.
So have fun making your perfect porn figure. Maybey share her overhere, for community only. So you get at least a bit of appreciation for all your hard work.

Yeah I have no intention of making money off anything I do. I'm just bored of gaming and would like a new project to carry through. Dunno how far I'll get but so far it's fun.

    Male Genitals:

Dicktator For Genesis 8 Male and Genesis 8.1 Male

All around probably the best but uses geoshells for veins and other bumpy parts.

    https://zonegfx.com/prop-o-rama-core-pack/

This one has a lot of add-ons and also has some nice baked in morphs BUT it isn't an attached penis. You can use morphs though to get it really close.

    Female Genitals:

None of the female genitals are perfect but here are a couple decent ones.

Golden Palace For Genesis 8 Female [update 2021/10/20] (fresh links)

    https://zonegfx.com/advanced-pussy-genesis-8-8-1-female-updated-02/

The second one is new but I really haven't messed with it much. It is also more like in beta then a finished product, I think.

As for genitals that look natural in all poses, I would use a base genital morph that bends and stretches the female genital area, not some geograph attachment, but that is up to you.

    Tongue:

Lickalicious For Genesis 8 Female (Upgrade)

    Lickalicious For Genesis 8 Male

    breast:

Breastacular For Genesis 8 Female (Update June 2020 v1.2)

Has a lot of great nipple morphs but there are others.

These are just ones that I used but there are others that you might like better. Most if not all have some add-ons that will enhance the experience but you'll have to search the blog to find them all. That's too much work for me.

As for characters that look like porn stars? I don't know but I know others would.. will they speak up? Probably not.

Genesis 8.1 has better facial expressions but I believe that Genesis 9 has the best. Only problem with that is the amount of content and naughty bits, at the moment, is considerably low.

As for realism.. depends on how realistic. I can make some moderately realistic characters with Gen 8 and I feel that Gen 9 out of the box has the most realistic character textures but you aren't going to find any ULTRA REALISTIC characters out of the box in DAZ3D's catalogue.

But no matter what.. lighting is your best friend. Along with DOF and even some grain can really trick the eye into making things believable and pretty.

    Hope that helps.

    - Take care
