    How about this for a rip off?

    Store Link

    How about paying nearly twice as much as the original for something that is poorly textured?

    Original

    Store Link

    I’ve noticed that user on renderhub – and their prices are always too high. When I add in the exchange amount – it simply ain’t worth it. The dollar here in Australia is about 66c to the US.

    Way too high, especially when they are just ripping content.
    Makes you wonder where the rest of that store came from?

    There’s a fair bit of shady dealing at Renderhub.

    One of the first characters I purchased from there had texture files that were taken straight from products by some of the really well known vendors at Daz.

    They weren’t textures that came from the merchant resource sets either and they still had the original vendor’s name on the .jpg’s.

    There’s a fair bit of shady dealing at Renderhub.

    I watch the non-Daz models and am always seeing lots of items from the large commercial studios being sold here. Most of it is stuff that’s been floating around in various pirate sites for years.

    renderhub is known to sell stolen assets and game rips. there’s like no one moderating what’s being uploaded and anyone can se their own prices, which is always open for exploiting.

    that’s why whenever i see game characters for Genesis 8/8.1, i notice it’s mainly the same person, but only under a different alias, because they have been taken down before with DMCA by the major studios due to them being a 1:1 rip, but only fitted to the DAZ Genesis figure (which is extremally easy to do, hence why they upload so much so fast)

    I found it extremely funny that den adjusted his/their intro info. This was just after the war in the Ukraine war started, claiming because they have a team there and that is why their prices are so high. Their recycled crap has always been extremely high priced.

    It’s been apparent for some time now that RenderHub is deliberately allowing people to rip off content and resell it, sell content that violates copyright and IP, as well as allow the sale of broken or untested assets.

    A huge number of 3D artists from ArtStation, CGSociety, and numerous other sites have been complaining about RenderHub for a while. The best course of action is for content creators to notify RenderHub of these violations and then keep their fingers crossed that the stolen content and users trying to profit from it are removed. In the meantime a huge number of RenderHub vendors are selling Daz characters created with merchant resources that aren’t credited, or worse, are barely modified characters sold without textures and without being tested for conflicts with other content.

    Everyone should be extremely cautious about buying anything on RenderHub. If the site is willing to skirt the law and allow blatant theft of assets then chances are that they are also not being very cautious with payment information.

    It is likely that there are many talented and original creators on RenderHub but their image will be tainted by RH’s policies (or lack thereof). I would strongly advise anyone to NOT buy anything from that site. If there is original content that you like you should contact the vendor and make your feelings known. Ask them if they have accounts on reputable platforms or other ways you can support them and purchase their assets.

    RenderHub’s conduct should not be condoned by continuing to buy from their site.

    I did buy a few things from a vendor at RH until I found them at a reputable site. It’s too bad too since alternatives and competition are nice.

    I’m surprised that you’re surprised by this @Eelgoo.

    I do find it kind of ironic that Renderhub allows the sale of stuff that is basically stolen, or using the IP of others, yet they go about actively looking for Mega / Google, etc. links for content from their site and throw out takedown notices.

    @frank22

    It is not that it surprises me that it happens.

    It was more the audacity, or niaivety, in which that particular example was marketed.

    Very little attempt had been made to hide the origin of the model.

    ‘Oh just change the texture mapping. No one will notice.’

    @yanoma

    It is not much different to how some of the pay piracy sites operate.

    Getting uppity that ‘their’ content is being shared.
    It seems that both are delusional that they actually own the the items concerned.

    Mind-melting. But not surprising.

    Very few actual artists on RH, but they stand out. DaxK is one, demonstrably unique models with unique assets.

    @yanoma This should not be surprising at all because it’s absolutely typical selfish behavior for thieves. RenderHub is making considerable profits off of stolen work being sold through their site. They certainly don’t want other thieves just giving it away.

    It’s just greed, idiocy, and pride mixed together in one big, messy puddle of toxic sludge. Annoying but definitely not surprising. RenderHub might have managed to stay under the radar if they had stuck to just stealing Daz assets. Now that they’re selling stolen assets from actual industry artists their business model and intentional lack of oversight is going to bite them in the ass, and hard. That’s also going to draw attention to the “low level” IP thieves profiting off of other people’s work, like Guhzcoituz and Shinteo, who’ve both been getting away with it for years.
