I'm using a character with a big head and every hair I tried shrinks around the neck instead of droping down like normal hair should. What can I do to fix this ?
Here's what I mean :

September 7, 2019 at 7:24 PM #1236151I can feel your problem.
Using myself a lot of the time characters with bigger head than usual to fetch that cartoon/half realist look, i ofthen have to deal with this.
First, have your tried not auto-fitting the hair but instead, just parenting the hair on the head ? I discovered that for some hair, parenting them (ofthenly went they are originaly made for another generation than the base you are using) result in some shape deforming. Especialy around the neck of the hair.
The second option i always look for, is trying to see if the hair has some innate morph that allow to change the shape of how the hair is shaped/posed around the neck. But alas, i know that not all hair come with such option.
Sometime, i just "cheat" a little and go manualy in the hair neck/shoulder body part and see if by playing with the X or Z dial can do something about it.When nothing seem to work for me. My last, but sometime best, solution to try to fix that, is using the D-Form tool in Daz and just custom make some D-former morph in the hair that fix this. It require a lot more work, but sometime, get the best result of whant i want to achieve. Although, i must say, it does not always work too.
Sometime, you just have to snif and shallow it up and take it has it is. 🙁

I'll fiddle around a bit. These hair types have a lot of morphs (and they're G8F, like my base model) but they never seem to do what I want them to. The D-former sounds like my best option. I'll also try the parenting without autofit. The elf ears are often a problem too, as the hair gets caught in the mesh. I might also try a D-force hair model, cut the ears for the simulation and put them back after. Maybe that could work.
Thanks again.September 8, 2019 at 8:20 PM #1237632About the elf hair, maybe a tip for you.
I found out that while auto-fitting hair not originaly concieved with elf ears in mind, Daz try to fit the hair style on the elf ears just like normal ears. But sometime, it give a really wonky result.
So what i do for those type of hair, i go in the hair proprety, click on the menu to show "hidden proprety", then go in the head/ear section and you'll see that the special elf ears morph have been transfered to the hair.
What i do, is dial this property back to 0. The hair around the ear area will return to a "normal" setting just like if your character had normal ear.
Than after that, i found out that for some hair style, it is much more easier to adjust and fix the ear so it can wrap around them and look more natural.
