On the Art comp thread members have been discussing themes for the next comp. The themes suggested so far are...
* Lovecraftian (Horror)
* Good Ole Summertime (Historical/Regency/Baroque Era,etc.)
* Day at the Beach (Contemporary or Pinup/50's, etc.)
* One Fine Day (Contemporary Or Imaginary)
* Once Upon a Time (Fantasy)
* Four Seasons
* Other Creature (non-human), a cat or an alien or a nice parasite who would like to hug youFor anyone who wants to participate, which theme do you prefer, or suggest your own ideas in Art Comp thread. We are considering having one category for AI-made images and another for 3D, Daz/Poser etc. Contributions of points to the prize pool would be greatly appreciated though not mandatory for entering.

June 15, 2024 at 12:02 AM #2079603We might have to wait until the site issues are fixed first Adam as I think a lot of people aren't even bothering to login while it's so slow. It's taken me 2 minutes to just reply to your post.

June 17, 2024 at 1:07 AM #2079786.. i'd go with Once Upon a Time (Fantasy).. the others seem a bit bland.. 🙂
July 9, 2024 at 2:25 PM #2082565Bumpy?
Yes, I like the Fantasy theme too. I think we def need a summer art competition, so that our graphics cards can keep us warm during the summer chills 🙂
July 9, 2024 at 8:23 PM #2082595While we’re mentioning graphics cards, I see this on Youtube way too often [shakes head] ….
Buys top end GPU (usually a 4090) and a 14900 CPU, so far so good, then crams the bloody things into a mini-ITX case and complains that temps are around 100C. Pumping 800+w TDP into a shoebox and thinking the laws of physics and thermal dynamics don’t apply?
I really don’t get these ITX people. You got a desk?… get yourself a decent-sized desktop case idiots.July 9, 2024 at 9:53 PM #2082610Dont have ITX but have a smaller Case than the usual ATX Midi Tower size, just fits tthe gfx card in with around 3cm clearance of the 3 front fans. three on the top of the case one on the back and one at the bottom of the case.
Have 4 NVME's 2x Old style HDD's i7 12700 128 GB Ram,
TUF GAMING B660-PLUS WIFI D4 Main Board,RTX 4800 Super Pro Art Version (Smaller size but exactly the same perf as standard 4080 Super. and a seasonic focus GX 850 PSU. Never had an issue with temps underload even today when its 34c outside, just decent aircooling set up (8 Fans plus CPU Fan. If I run cinebench may get in to high 80's but thats nothing to worry about. Why did I go for a smaller case, well I have a 32" 4K monitor a 32" 1440 Monitor and a Ultra Wide monitor 34" 2560*1080 on my desk and as I am messing around with sd cards and some other bits n pieces i like having the tower on my Desk too.
Works doesnt cook the components and gives me the real estate i need on my desk.July 9, 2024 at 10:25 PM #2082611I guess the problem mainly arises with the newer power-hungry generation of GPUs and CPUs.
Jay called this ITX case "amazing" (after he "fixed" the thermals LOL), did he not see... and this isn't an isolated case.
July 10, 2024 at 12:07 AM #2082617oops my bad its a rtx 4080 super damn typo

Currently they have a reasonable cashback offer and with the promo codes you get, you end up with around 6 months free of the Full Adobe CC Cloud suite as well.July 10, 2024 at 12:25 AM #2082618I'd like one of those. What's a Collection Card, under accessories?
July 10, 2024 at 3:12 AM #2082625Well you would be getting the benefit of 24GB of VRAM. There's a thread here about render speed, if you aren't throttling due to heat. Something around 20-25 iterations per second seems normal, but there's a huge variation between systems.
July 10, 2024 at 1:41 PM #2082664I need to upgrade, in spite of the fact that my somewhat creaky RTX 2070 is working just fine, and does a fairly quick job of it. I built my rig in 2020 though, and I know one fine day I'll hear an audible 'pop' mid-render, everything will go dark, and that will be it for the old girl.
July 10, 2024 at 1:50 PM #2082665@pooper my recent upgrade to a 4070 Super (mini variant) was quite nice... double the performance and some extra VRAM wiggle room over my old 2070 Super
