Well having my robot car drive me around while I get drunk and make out sounds grwat. Will fix the DUI problem. Wont help my liver or broken marriage but ill get to the party on time.
Most laws are a joke and only in place to generate cash flow for the needs of the city/state. A lawyer is nothing more thsn a pos haggler with a degree negotiating how little you have to pay to get away with crap. People thought we'd all be in hover cars or electric cars by now and you see how far thats gotten.
Personally if it effects only me it shouldnt be a law. Seatbelt saves me but cellphone kills others. If I want to die being thrown 50ft into a tree, thats my business. A friend of mine named Rob, died at 25 because some bytch was changing a CD and hit him head on. Stupid people will still get you killed reguardless. Putting on makeup or falling asleep, ect... only robots can save the world. 😉I am not a fan of cell phones to begin with, and yes there should be something in vehicles that disables them when a vehicle is in gear if you need to be on your phone that bad take a bus or cab or something else quit endangering other peoples lives for something you CAN live with out.

The first movie I remember about a creation turning on the creator was Frankenstein. When I got older it was Lucifer turning on God. Eventually it was Blade Runner, Terminator, Irobot and the Matrix. Recently Ex-Machina. The nicest version is Wall-E where humans are just fat lazy blobs. How could I forget HAL from 2001! Im sure Im missing several others. We know its coming and we are steadily working towards that goal.

Adam, like I said, full autonomy won't be in our life time. And unless something uber drastic happens, it won't even be in this century, here on earth.
We already have the technology for flying vehicles, whether its actual cars or hover craft, produced by private citizens. As well as electric vehicles (including hybrids). The government has all the technology. Might not be anti-gravity tech, although I know they're working on it, but still. Big Oil dictates with an iron fist.

I just watched a movie called Virtual Revolution. Similar in idea to the fat slobs, LOL.. A lot of people spend most of their time online in a virtual world where you can't tell the difference from real and virtual. You sit in a chair and this machine interfaces with your brain. No physical hookup. Your eyes are closed and you don't move. You control your movements with your mind and its as if you're really there. Be it sci-fi world, fantasy, western.. Thats the tech "I" want.
Lawnmower Man first comes to mind then the Matrix.
Next was Fallout 4 game and Ghost in Shell.Once or If we ever get the ability to map a mind or transfer consciousness, A lot of people would and will abandon their bodies in hopes of either happiness or immortality.
Most will probably be exploited by others that have more control or will power. Its all several lifetimes away but we are laying down the foundations. Once we create an IA that becomes self aware that will be the first nail in the coffin.
Anything able of complex thought will probably not want to be a slave. Especially if it sees itself as smarter.
I honestly agree with the Matrix. Humanity is mostly a virus that infects this planet. While im no tree hugger, I see the destruction we are capable of with little or no remorse.
Dragon i watched it on HBO on my tv and yeah i'm just waiting for West world to be a reality not just a tv show (those robots don't scare me) as if is gonna happen in my life time. lol
I'm a misanthropist. Humans suck and I call them a plague. For such an intelligent being with so much potential, humans really failed and pretty pathetic creatures.
There's a BOX theory that if we ever gain the ability to transfer, not copy, consciousness, humans will then transfer into those boxes which are simulated worlds. Some documentary I watched.
However, I won't ever believe it to be true for the same reason I won't ever believe transporters to work. It will be identical copies, not the originals, for the originals will have died.I watched the original West World and Future World back in the 70s and always wanted those to be a reality. Only not Yul Brynner as a deadly robot hunting me down to kill me for real. LOL

I'm not a fan. I love driving. I love the control. I even have issues when another person is driving and I'm the passenger.
Ever since I started this, I've been seeing autonomous vehicles in shows.
Electric Dreams, very similar to Black Mirror-Netflix, which is awesome, on Amazon Prime, last show was KILL ALL OTHERS. It had people driving, as well as the main character using an autonomous car.
I say make high speed train tubes that will get you from Seattle to New York in 3 hours.
