I found a pirated model of Assassin's Creed Kassandra on DA, which I would like to use.

However: Her distinct plait isn't rigged and collides with her body. I wonder if it is complicated to rig it myself and would love to hear your advice where I could find some helpful info.

set your parameter tab on edit, load that figure and take notes of the amount of morphs. 1 morph for the whole character or has it a head and body morph. With the figure selected go to tool settings and choose joint editor. Set you head morph at 100% and the body morph at 0
Now rigt click on the figure and select adjust rigging to shape. After that select the morph wich has the 100% value and righ click ERC freeze, in the new opened window just click ok.
Now put the head morph at 0 and the body morph at 100% and repeat the simple steps above. You have now adjusted the rigging to you figere. (you also need to save thhem on the proper location)

Thanks for this hints duckface, but the rigging of the figure is perferctly fine. It is just the hair, in particular the plait which can't be moved.
The hair has no bones at all, so when I try to adjust the rigging to shape it all goes horribly wrong and even loses any kind of shape.

This video should help, it's a bit dry to start with, but covers use of the Joint Editor Tool nicely.
