That was cool and all... still kinda weird light, and the water looks more like a lake on a windy day... changed that... see next render. @miarka, I really have to mentally finish this before I can go on to legends. My brain won't "Let It Go". now that damn song will be stuck in my head
March 21, 2018 at 6:16 AM #540253Ok, I think i got it. Thoughts?

Figured the light issue out, it was that there were no other 3d objects to bounce light off of. Now that the dunes are in place, and the water is there, lots of light bouncing going on. Turned up the environment effect in render settings to .3 as well. Made the Sphere Object the sun, with emissive light map, far away, really bright. I think I'm happy with it. Now if I could just Matrix in to this scene. Bliss.
I think I could actually bend the waves a lot more realistically, that beach model is pretty high res, making it a SubD and and an LOD would allow more tweaking, but this scene is already pushing 7.5 GB loaded in memory. Palm trees have weird artifacts on the tips of the branches, meh. If this was some sort of production work, a little touch up would be in order.
March 21, 2018 at 6:40 AM #540271Missing trash washed ashore. Few sand crabs, few birds. Shark fin about 100 yards out. 🙂
Not many sand bars in our area. Maybe a pier, boat, Her boyfriend sitting on a board in the distance for depth.
March 21, 2018 at 3:04 PM #540647I'm with @d0gg0d. I love the lights but the beach looks a bit too clean. Sand crabs would be nice. Now, go render!! 😀
March 22, 2018 at 10:32 PM #542270Ok. I like it.
March 22, 2018 at 11:48 PM #542358Beautifull this last one. Sky horizon ++++
But there are no more tracks in the sand (perhaps put i but
not as intense as the penultimate)what about 2 or three seagulls in the horizon 'perahps near the sun in the orange part or somewhere else
March 23, 2018 at 1:25 AM #542438one last thing. the sun is in front of her.
So the shadow should fall behind her.March 23, 2018 at 1:35 PM #542981Did I post the wrong one... Wtd I did
March 23, 2018 at 1:45 PM #542994what sky is that?
March 23, 2018 at 2:26 PM #543032Hand made. I don't like using the canned ones

Shadow looks odd compared to the sun position, but overall, I still love it.
March 23, 2018 at 3:04 PM #543070I'm impressed with your sky. Any tutorials to follow to get that look?
Footprints in the sand would be cool. Maybe a few Booleans in your modeling software of choice.
March 23, 2018 at 4:25 PM #543139No. I don't read. No tutorials. I can write one. It's a product off like 30 different attempts. If you're interested, I have technical writing background, and can produce some high quality docs... Kinda a requirement in my position.
March 23, 2018 at 4:30 PM #543141Waiting for Waves.

No foot prints. She's the first one at the beach. Tide cleaned all those away. That's how I pictured it.Wasn't a shadow, it's driftwood, so I moved it. Looks better on my monitor. But seeing it on my phone, I can see how out looks like a shadow. In working on a 50 inch 4k LG with HDR. Probably doesn't translate well to pc monitors.
March 23, 2018 at 4:46 PM #543159actually, no, it look perfectly fine, as a piece of wood, with its appropriate shadows, in my "ancient" Acer monitor.
"Ancient" because it's now 9 years old. Was damn awesome when I bought it, providing 21 inches true wide, at 1600*900, when most of the competition was around 19 inches, at 1366*768.
And, it's sturdy. VERY sturdy. It has outlived 3 computers this past decade. -
