my own lightingshe is a new character (not the model) for me for a possible future project.
CC not only welcomed but encouraged as this is just a test image with my new card and the first time I have been able to have my viewport in iray while creating and not have to render for hours, just to find I screwed something up. This took 5 minutes, but it is not too complex.

@atsugi Really nice render and she is so cute 🙂 well done!
February 8, 2023 at 11:52 AM #1924688Really a cute doll. The only problem is that your character is sticked on the background. I do not know what is wrong. There is not much depth in your picture. Try to rotate your HDR or place an object behind her. Good luck Russel, @atsugi
February 8, 2023 at 4:10 PM #1924799I hear you about rendertime, man , I remember my first render few months ago LOL
Enjoy the new toy
I got the feeling the lighting of the background does not match the lighting of the girl. Maybe that is why she kind of "sticks out"
Nice you make your own textures to..February 8, 2023 at 5:49 PM #1924866My guess is that in the background the bushes are placed closed than the trees but are blurred equally. So the Depth of Field looks odd. I ran into this issue using HDRIs so I either had to get a really Hi-Res HDRI or add something physical to offset it. Using Just the HDRI doesn't always render well if you're going to show it in the render. At least for me. If you're just using it for lighting, then it really doesn't matter.

Yes, @d0gg0d yes the HDRI's. I rarely use an HDRI where you can see the surroundings like trees, parks, houses. Even if they have a high resolution. I prefer to use props or something else. And if I have to, I use a plane with an image. HDRIs are good for clouds.
January 20, 2024 at 11:47 PM #2054453thank you all for the advice on this, depth of field scares me as I can never get it just right. as for the lighting you are right, it does seem a bit off. Still learning and the CC is appreciated.

If at first you don't succeed, try and try and try again 😉
