    To be fair, animation really hasn't been DS's strong suit.

    I'm sure there are much better focussed animation programs about.

    You're right but that's the problem. How long can DS survive as a predominantly still image generator? It's always been a very niche market but that market is getting smaller with the addition of other tools. AI generation is another thing that will cut into DS's clientbase. So what room does DS have to grow? More polys, more detail... hence G9, but we don't need more details, we need better tools.

    There are always some, myself included, who wish to make a still image, rather than a animation / movie, and maintain definitive control over it.

    It may be niche, but I think there are quite a lot of people that think the same way on that.

    Currently, refinement & attention to detail to bring quality back to where it was & maybe even improve on it?
