Render time in 3DL are based upon the CPU speeds. I have an i7 3.8gz system. it clearly renders faster than my i5 2.0ghz system but what 3DL has over Iray is when the image is done...it stop drawing and doesn't keep going to some predefined number of iterations or time. 3DL also has the ability to do HDRI lighting...inside a closed room using Uberenviroment2 settings. light settings are as written with studio. 0 is dark 100 is bright as hell. no emitters with 1million lumen settings. 3dl is perfect, advanced, and still being updated...DAZ3D has no interest in updating their system to support it do to 3Delight the company changed how shaders work.

Netflixs Dragon Prince was made using Maya I think, with the 3Delight render engine. (the current version has a toon based system that makes high quality work...in my opinion.)

Everyone feels their opinion is best and why. It's the down side of this hobby.
Don't give up...there are a few who will help and give you what you need to get started.
First off...Vicky isn't where you think she would be, she's not listed under the DAZ side of the house.
Look in the poser side of things and you'll find DAZ People. She's there.

"Drive" (in my case it's D: ---- Figure ---- DAZ People
(if you don't see it, you may or will need to use the Content Directory Manager and map the exact location where your content folder is located.)

but not all things will work for her as she needs two plugins which are found in the POSE folder. "Inj Morph ++" and "INJ Base". this will allow you to use ALL the figures for v4.

But if you're new to the whole DAZ thing. I STRONGLY suggest you kick it off with the G2 Figure. It runs and works just like G3 and G8 with a few minor issue that have to deal with the weight mapping (ie you pose...wait a second...and the body moves to it's final position. think of it like Studio is inflating the limbs to fit and look right after you did the pose.)

Shaders, you need 3DL shaders and the absolute standard of anyone I've talked with since I started this hobby is GeorgeHaze's Ultimate shader pack. It's a pack that he offered DAZ and they turned him down...it's the number one downloaded shader pack for 3DL and still seeing use.

    Good luck.

    Thank you @Cynthia
That was a bunch of info for my newbie brain
I will be reading your message again and again because it's so interesting.

I love the Genesis 2 and 3 characters, they have gorgeous faces,
hot bodies, their outfits are cool and sexy, and most importantly: they come with 3Delight Materials!!!
Also I can convert them to Genesis 8 if I want to use G8 poses
so I think that's the path I'm following for now.
And I've found a few environments that are 3Delight too.

I never heard of that Shader Pack before, so I just downloaded it and
    am going to install it.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Under the Overpass Scene by Stonemason Version 3Delight.
    Predatron Essential Skies.
The scene was rendered right out of the box, I just added a skydome and created a camera.
    Pixel Size: 720 x 405
    Render Time: 37 minutes
3Delight Render Engine in DAZ Studio 4.15

I love this scene and will be using it in my renders.
However, if there is a way to render faster I would like to know how.

The cost of GFX cards has shot way up due to chip shortages (covid-nuking-the-supply-chain + crypto-mining-craze-part-II = GPU chips suddenly got scarce).

To answer a previous sentence: "In my previous experiments with 3DL the render times of a test scene were often significantly longer compared to an Iray render"

This is correct, but only if you have a decent RTX-based GPU, and if the scene is texture- and light-optimized for iRay. Otherwise, if you have a crappy GPU card (less than 6GB of GPU-dedicated RAM, and/or a GPU older than a GeForce 1040 GTX) and textures and/or lights are not quite optimized for the GPU, then 3DL will be faster.

Same story for iRay scenes scenes that are bloated larger than your GFX card's RAM capacity (which means off to CPU-rendering you go!)

I downloaded the Jasmin file, but didn't see lights anywhere. Where are they located in Daz after installation?

I wonder if AoA light working in recent DAZ Studio beside Ambient Light ? Or there is new update to make it work?

    Thanks
