OPERATION OVERLORD

D-Day, 6th of June 1944, 75th Anniversary.

On the 6th of June 1944, 24.000 US, British, Canadian and French
paratroopers landed in Normandy.

Later that morning, infantry and armoured troops began landing on the coast of Normandy in five different sectors, a total of 132.000 Allied soldiers landed on the beaches that day.

Around 50.000 Germans defended the landing zones.

Casualties where high the first day, 4.000-9.000 Germans and 10.000 + Allied soldiers.
The total number of casualties that occurred during Operation Overlord from June 6 to August 30 was over 425,000 Allied and German troops.

Let’s honor the Allied soldiers who fought and died to liberate the world form the Nazi regime. We must also show our respect to the german soldiers who died in a war most of them where thrown into.

Too many young men lost there lives during WWII.

We must never forget them.

I know that there are some incorrect things in this image.
The airplanes are not C-47s and they have no military markings.
The parachute canopy was darker but I used a light version to get
a better effect of the paradrop in the image.

I'm certain that people can find more things that is historically wrong in this image.
