Firebird Sports Car (for Poser)

Firebird Sports Car (for Poser)
The body shape of this car was inspired by the Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, third generation, circa 1983-1987, but with a more futuristic dashboard.

The Firebird was completely redesigned for the 1982 model year, with the windshield slope set at 62 degrees, and for the first time, a large, glass-dominated hatchback that required no metal structure to support it. Two concealed pop-up headlights, a first on the F-Body cars, were the primary characteristic that distinguished the 3rd Gen Firebird from its both its Camaro sibling and its prior form. The 3rd Generation Firebird was the most aerodynamic product GM had ever released. The aerodynamic developments extended to the finned aluminum wheels with smooth hubcaps and a functional rear spoiler.

The Trans Am was a specialty package for the Firebird, which upgraded the handling, suspension, and horsepower, as well as minor appearance modifications such as exclusive hoods, spoilers, fog lights and wheels. These cars were built on the F-body platform, which was also shared by the Chevrolet Camaro.

The third generation Trans Am was available from 1982 to 1992. Two modified Trans Am`s were used on the 1980`s TV show Knight Rider as KITT, the automotive star, and its evil counterpart KARR. In fact, a total of 23 cars were made for use in filming the series. All except one of these cars survived the series` run; all except 5 of the remaining 22 cars were destroyed at the end of filming.
