Greetings to all.
I'm just going to post some things here and see what you make of them.
I'm two months into Daz (and 3D in general) and I'm enjoying it.
Anyway, I know my renders are far from pro but each one teaches me something new so I feel I'm making progress. Please let me know what you think, positive or negative?
Throne room

Outpost

Engine trouble

Invasion

Got content?

City patrol
March 8, 2019 at 12:20 AM #988729I like the style, but you need to work a bit on the actual render quality (the first one, the Throne room is looking really cool, but it's incredibly grainy), and that goes for some of the others as well. And you managed to become part of the ZGFX banners, so that's something 😀
March 8, 2019 at 12:51 AM #988759Really like the fist one but as said its a bit grainy. Id like to see a low level fill light to get a bit more definition on the faces but thats me and I know the style is meant to be dark and mysterious. Still my favorite out of all of them.
Going to put 2-3 together. Im unsure as to the durability of the solar panels in tie fighters but "to me" regardless of canon, they should not be able to land in their wings. I see ties as a ship that has to have a docking port. Other than that I dont see a problem that stands out. Still grainy.
The Sith/evil Jedi I do not like at all. Not trying to be harsh but looks like a Joker puppet with a back-round drop.
ZoneGFX Already sent you a PM on that.
last ties Id add some sort of minor ion trail/thrust. Still grainy but I like the image overall.
March 8, 2019 at 1:02 AM #988769As a follow up.
Picture a giant dump truck covered in mud set against a rocky cliff.
Picture a giant dump truck covered in mud set against a rocky cliff and a guy in mud caked work clothes trying to fix a tire while a guy from the cab of the truck yells something at him.
Which makes a more interesting picture? Landscapes are pretty BUT if you want to make a picture more interesting add people.
Think about the last scene looking over the shoulder of a trooper calling in flight commands or a Rebel hidden behind a wall trying to avoid detection while planting a bomb.
I think vehicles are cool but imagine if the Car in the ZoneGFX banner didnt have the woman getting out of it.
March 8, 2019 at 7:13 AM #989063Thanks for taking the time out to respond and I appreciate your critique!
The graininess I'm working on but I'm severely hindered by both my hardware (throne room = 6 hour render) and my skills!
I think I'm most happy at this stage with the set building having learnt how to manipulate and save out individual kitbash prop files from Blender but my people leave a lot to be desired - totally agree about the Sith for example (although I still like the backdrop)
@d0gg0d - right about people adding interest to a scene and characters are something I've been working on lately. Adding it all together is still super difficult to light but I guess that's the game right? Some character dev below - quick renders for concept work rather than actual output:
Vacuum wear (G3 on G8, loads of poke through in this render. Fixed now using fit control script)

IC3 Male

Aava

Onyx 500 and K'Barr

Yukio
March 8, 2019 at 8:37 AM #989143I like your concepts. My suggestion would be to turn down a few setting if they are high. Then render the image as large as you can. Then resize it smaller in Photoshop. Dont use the denoiser in PS unless there is no other option and only use it on the larger image.
Delete everything not in your scene (frame) in Daz will help with speed. Limit reflection seems to help to. (shiny metal)
Limit lights. Every light in a tie fighter (engine) or glowing armor adds time and stress.March 11, 2019 at 7:39 PM #993740More character work. I'm really liking these two and the lightings definitely improving (slowly).
Zurie - off the shelf character but she looks good so worked more on the outfit.

Leilana Veni - custom face and body morph
March 11, 2019 at 7:45 PM #993749Zurie?.....off which shelf? 🙂

March 11, 2019 at 11:05 PM #993969Righto. Thanks a lot. 🙂
March 13, 2019 at 5:00 PM #996305Working on a few aspects here but mostly lighting and DOF. Progress!
FWSA Lavana
March 13, 2019 at 7:20 PM #996433Like the color scheme, pose and expression. Only thing I could think to add to improve it might be some small explosions un the backround like someone was shooting at her and missing.
