Is it just me or whenever I put any footwear on any G8 female form or character, after adjusting the foot pose, the footwear, be it heels or boots, deforms.
Its like the heels become misshapen and melted looking, and the foot turns into a blob.Just wanted to know if there was something inherently wrong with G8, and I should just go back to using just G3 and older characters.
July 9, 2018 at 1:11 am #671078Ive not had great luck with footwear. 50/50 at best
Also still cant figure out the skirt and dress issue over the naughty bits. Makes a triangle. Sure theres tuts out there but I need a quick and easy fix.
July 9, 2018 at 1:17 am #671082Glad it's not just me missing out on something really obvious on both counts (the footwear AND the weird crotch-triangle).
July 9, 2018 at 1:17 am #671083Whats even worse, is that shoes from G3F are just as bad on G8F, and the foot poses, even when converted for G8F usage, just turn the foot into ball of putty.
Really am getting less than impressed with the G8F foot issues.
July 9, 2018 at 1:43 am #671102AnonymousInactiveRank:I have had no issues with G8 shoes on a G8 model. G3 shoes on a G8 model is another story but the conversion workflow is simple enough.
July 9, 2018 at 1:57 am #671116AnonymousInactiveRank:No problems here with either shoes or crotch triangles.
July 9, 2018 at 2:11 am #671124Using an earlier Gen model footwear never fits for me. Clothes usually do, but not footwear. Its not just G8. However, footwear made for a specific gen always works on that figure.

if it's a closed toe and heel footwear item, i always end up hiding the feet and toes on the G8 figure in the scene manager, then pose the using the foot bones, but leave them hidden. If it's a long boot or something above the knee (no bologna), i'll hide the lower leg too.
July 9, 2018 at 2:51 am #671147on wierd crotch angles for clothing items, i'll delete the bones from below the hip on the clothing or prop so that the leg bones on G8 don't mess up the clothing, then if i really want it to fit, throw a dforce modifier on it and simulate a few frames until it looks right.
g3 to g8, g2 to g3, and other under garments seem to work ok this way, and if you have smoothing on, they usually correct themselves for leg position when they are closed tight.
Just be sure to save a lot when doing it, cuz i always manage to select a G8 figure bone by accident and delete it. There is no undoing it, so save save save after each correct deletion, use multiple saves to make sure you can revert back if you do mess up.
July 9, 2018 at 5:19 am #671229Ive deleted toes but on some shoes, the shoe will deform. G8 works for G8 but trying G3 or V4 is another story. Some transfer ok but most dont. Some V4 stuff is great but most stuff below the waist or some accessories dont work.
July 9, 2018 at 7:46 am #671363The problem lies in the fact that for some unknown reason, they have done away with the ankle bone in G8F. That is what makes legacy footwear such a problem for G8.
Some talented vendor needs to make a script to convert, but I doubt anyone will now! 🙁As regards the crotch issue, I find Zev0's Fit Control very versatile & effective.

July 9, 2018 at 7:50 pm #672007Okay, well, I tried making the feet invisible, and still the footwear messes up the moment they go on, and this is footwear FOR G8F.

Link to imgur picture of my issue (can't seem to post images in this thread.)I tried finding a solution on the Daz3D forum, but their forums are about as useful as using a plastic fork to cut concrete. They keep thinking you're talking about V4 or other formats, and go off on daft tangents.
I really am at the point of giving up on G8F. But there are characters I just want to use without the foot tomfoolery.
July 13, 2018 at 3:07 am #676051The following is taken from Sickleyield's DA page about converting clothing from G3 to G8.
Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 High-Heeled Shoes
Load Genesis 8 Female into your scene.
As before, apply the Genesis 3 Female pose for Genesis 8 Female.
Make sure Genesis 8 is not selected.
Load your high-heeled shoes into the scene. I'm using the Austrani boots in the video.
If they came with a foot pose, you can usually just apply it directly to G8 at this point. I did this with the Austrani boots. I also changed the shin bends to -0.72 to minimized visible clipping, and you may need to fiddle with the shin/foot pose to do that too, since G8 has no heel bone.
Select the shoes or boots in the Scene Tab.
Find the small button at the top right of the tab. Click on it and choose Edit--Scene Identification.
Click on the "..." to the right of "Preferred Base."
A big list pops up. Find Genesis 8 and Female under that. Click Accept. Then click Accept again.
Before you perform the transfer step, pose the clothing to match the target figure (arms down for G8, arms up for G3) and click the Bone Editor. It looks like a bone with a pencil across it. Now right-click in the 3d window and choose Edit and Bake Joint Rotations.
In the Scene tab, Left-click on Genesis 8 Female. Hold down shift and left-click on your shoes, so both are selected, but Genesis 8 is selected FIRST. The order matters.
Now click the little button on the top right of Scene Tab again.
Choose Edit--Rigging--Transfer Rigging (Figure Space).
Now you should be able to fit the boots to Genesis 8 Female and have them work fine.
As Eelgoo said, Sickleyield (and I've seen others) mention the missing heel bone which seems to be the culprit when getting footwear to fit properly. I've not see the deforming stiletto though, that seems strange, have you tried other footwear from other vendors?
July 13, 2018 at 6:39 am #676197A good mini tut, there EM.
Thanks for posting that!

July 13, 2018 at 10:11 pm #677111I've tried every G8F shoe I have, and they all deform when they are put onto the G8F body. I'm starting to think there is a scale issue between the footwear and the body, as it seems the issue does not happen on the larger figures (Olympia, etc)
So, my suspicions point me to a scaling problem, either in the G8F foot bone structure or the footwear, itself.Either way, I've gone back to working with G3F, as I've read so many forums with folks grumbling about G8F issues.
