FYI, I received this email today:
"You’re receiving this because you signed up for the MetaHuman Creator web application in Early Access. If you don’t use the service and don’t need to retrieve any data, no action is required.
As communicated back in April, the MetaHuman Creator web application is retired as of November 5, 2026.
You can continue creating MetaHumans directly in Unreal Engine. MetaHuman Creator is now integrated into Unreal Engine 5.6 and later, allowing you to create and customize MetaHumans directly in the editor without needing the web application.
What’s changing today
MetaHuman Creator version selection for UE 5.5 has been removed. This completes the phased retirement that began in April 2026.Retrieve your MetaHumans
You have 90 days from November 5, 2026, to download any MetaHumans in your gallery. After February 3, 2027, you will no longer be able to download them using Quixel Bridge or the MetaHuman Importer in UEFN.For details on how to export your existing MetaHumans, see our forum post.
Thank you for being part of the MetaHuman Creator Early Access community and helping shape its evolution. We’re excited to see what you create next with MetaHuman Creator in Unreal Engine.
November 5, 2026 at 9:20 PM #2194302Wasn't MetaHuman originally an open source freebie project to make a universal figure for all 3D programs? You know, one base figure to 'rule them all'?
November 5, 2026 at 11:15 PM #2194306Meta Humans originated from Epic Games who is making the unreal engine. I believe it was in early access for a few years time to refine the tool. I think they are just bringing it back home to merge it with Unreal engine 5.
November 5, 2026 at 11:28 PM #2194307Thanks @khefrenn, I know that there WAS such an undertaking at one time, maybe it was through Blender? Does anyone recall what it was? A search didn't turn up anything.
Thanks!November 6, 2026 at 1:00 AM #2194313MakeHuman is the project you're thinking of. I do remember a very similar plugin for blender by a single developer but i don't remember what it was called anymore.
November 6, 2026 at 1:02 AM #2194314Thanks @cantonesejim, You jogged my memory and yes, I also seemed to remember that. It's too bad it never took off.
