Does ticking that box when you log into GFX affect your getting login points or not?

I don't think so. I think it's related to time and not logging in, ie. daily points not log-in points.
The way I have my browser set up is to delete all browsing data when I close it, so I log-in several times a day and I can't really tell.
Clearing browser data improves the performance of your device/browser and protects your privacy.

On a related note - how often do you guys turn off your PCs? I've been on forums where some say they leave theirs's on for months without a re-boot. I put mine to bed each night, Fast Startup disabled.

mine stays on all the time, 24-7 (unless im leaving for a few days) then ill shut it down. It reboots only during updates or system crashes

I also turn the lights off when I go to bed.

I always turn my computer off when I go to bed. Quite often I would set up a render to happen before I go to bed, and then the computer can shut down after it finishes.

With regards to "remember me" - sometimes I would need to log in again.

Even though the sys is only idling it's still consuming electricity with the CPU sitting around 30°C to 40°C. Wouldn't that shorten lifespan, wear on fans etc.
Then again I've heard people say that turning on and off somehow stresses the computer's components.
My last electric bill had a "Standby and always on" component of $11. I guess it was the TV and 2 digital radios so it all adds up.
