    So Daz breaks when I use OOT hairs since the 'new and improved' version, 4.22. I'm trying to revert, since a bunch of the core characters in my project wear OOT hairstyles.

    These hairstyles can't be updated to not break Daz; it's not like I got them in DIM. Everything is manual install. I have no way of updating them unless someone posts them on here.

    Anyway, I downloaded the free 4.21 version from here. Tried installing it and I get Daz 4.22 (the one that breaks) when I click on the 4.21 desktop shortcut. I went to Add/Remove Programs and 4.21 was the only one that showed up, and I removed it. Nonetheless, the desktop shortcuts are still there, and when I click the 4.21, the 4.22 loads. How do I get rid of Daz 4.22? It doesn't show up in my installed apps. And further, how do I do this without losing my asset library.

    Any response and guidance is appreciated and enormously helpful. This sucks. Shouldn't have fixed something that wasn't broke. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    I used the same version.

    C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4.21
    In here there is
    "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4.21\DAZStudio.exe"

    I changed the path of the hyperlink to above ( Off course this applies to my pc, your path may be different)

    Have you tried this method:

    Daz Studio: 4.22 RENDER CRASH BUG FIX

    Apparently OOT hair shaders are the main problem. Try using another vendors hair shader. There was a discussion there about that:

    TBH I have been having problems with OOT shaders for some time going back over a few DS iterations.

    I just replace them with aftermarket hair shaders & it seems to address the problem.

    @eelgoo, have you replaced the shaders in the folders of all OOT hair, or do you replace the shader every time after loading OOT hair into the scene? If the first, could you tell us more?

    Basically it is just part of my routine if using OOT Hair.
    Find a third party shader that I want to use on it, after I have loaded & fitted the hair.

    I usually save out the hair & genetalia combination I want to use on a character to a one click wearable preset load.

    I see. But it would be great to understand how to replace the shader before loading. I looked through the hair OOT folder, but I didn't understand in which files the shader information is stored.

    I think you have to look in [OOT Hair]\Content\Runtime\Textures\{oot hair.xxx}

    Why would you need to do that?

    Adding a shader is only a few clicks & if you save the hair out as a wearable preset it will be one click to use it.

    🙂

    @eelgoo

    what after market shaders do you use that don't have problems with 4.22?

    I use VYK ones.

    I find them very good.

    Is the VYK hair dye shaders the one you use?

    I would not like to create crutches to all my OOT hair (over 30). If the problem is in the map for the transmitter color, can someone check what will happen if you just delete this map from the corresponding folder in the daz library? I haven't upgraded to 4.22 myself yet.

    @eelgoo

    So I haven't messed with hair shaders. There was a bug fix video on youtube. It said to delete the texture in "Transmitted Color". Is that where I replace the old one with a hair shader texture? I tried it with a VYK dye hair and it crashed again.

    I haven't deleted anything. I just highlighted the hair surfaces & applied the shader.
