I am new here and I want to learn how to make 3D models of myself and other people and have them interact together in like, a video or a movie as as hobby of mine, I already downloaded and installed Daz 3D and iClone8+cc and played with them a little I already got some resources (plugins, material..etc) and managed to make some of them work but the majority didn't, any advise to direct me to where and how should I start to reach my goal would be highly appreciated, I have 0 experience but I'm not a complete idiot..some parts are missing 🙂

Thank you for your reply Ethiopia, the thing is, I don't want to get distracted and try to learn many software at once, I've read about Blender,iClone, Daz3d,maya...etc and got a couple of them as I mentioned before but it's too distracting to try to use both of them at once, that's why I ask which one is best for my goal, now you add blender to the equation which makes me wonder, which software has the largest material available? for example which one has many animations available so that I don't have to make my own animations,
by the way what is hysterically stupid tube? Is it a nickname for youtube..?

Edit: My goal is to make a character of myself as realistic as possible, you know when you see a picture of a person online and think its real but when you look closer you realize it's cgi because of how good it was made? that's what I wanna do.

Get and learn blender if you're only going to use one products. It's free, it has the best helpful and most active community, it can import almost anything, and it can do almost anything good enough for 95% of what people need it to do. New releases at a pretty regular cadence, including major releases every year or so.

DS is pretty much a single-use product. It's good for rendering single images. And it has the most content out there. And it's one of the easiest to learn to use so you can be up and rendering after watching an hour or so of yt vids. DS has almost no major releases and DAZ is focused on content, not improving functionality. We've been on DS4.x for over a decade.

all the above is imo of course

Great, I made a Discuss account or whatever it's called to be able to chat with you on this site and now I need to make a discord, why do we have to discord though? Can't we all just get along...?
By the way when you say "Studio" you mean Daz right? As a beginner I am not familiar with the slang

Alright, I am downloading Blender now, what is DS though? And what is rendering for that matter? Excuse me if I am not familiar with the terminology

DS = DAZ Studio (the software that you use to load content, create a scene, and then render the scene)

Render = using a 3d program (such as DS) to create an image (usually a jpg file) that captures the scene that you created in that program so you can share them or look at them later (basically, think of the render as a picture a camera creates but you're using software to create the scene and then the same software to create the "picture").

check Parmy Baddhan out on yt, he's pretty good....

I am afraid there is no "quick Fix" when it comes down to 3D software. Apart from knowing how things are done, it will take a lot of flying hours. As you mentioned, there is a lot of different software, all with its own RTFM. Everything can be mastered, but be patient, and do not set your aims to high...
    Above all, have fun!

I'm from a Blender background (only boring mechanical parts though)
I've spent a lot of free time trying to go down the Daz3D path but I'm actually getting better results from importing Daz3D assets into Blender and working there.
Maybe just me but if you can learn Blender I think you'll do well.

So blender is better than iclone, daz, maya..etc?

Yes, I discovered the face transfer tool when I was playing around with my Daz, for some reason most of the faces I transfer end up looking asian lol is there a way to tweak the results? Also the tool only allow for 3 faces, is there a free alternative?

You can use the unlimited version of Face Transfer. I thought it was already on the blog but I can't find it now. PM me if you want it.
There's also Face Transfer Shapes that helps a lot for tweaking the results.

@teachme , Better try Maya/MotionBuilder or Cinema4D for your purpose. Daz is an infamy for animation. Likewise, I-clone... Blender can be an alternative, but, to my taste, with a very complicated interface.
Besides, the aforementioned softwares accept render engines from different sources (V-ray, Arnold, Octane, Redshift, Maxwell, etc..), not the Iray garbage...

It would be great if you could send it to me, also, do you think it's better than character creator 4 headshot?
