I realise some of you actually WANT all the old V4 and even earlier stuff, but having to wade through the vast quantity of this old garbage that a couple of members post incessantly (and have done for years) is, to me, feckin' annoying. YMMV.
Is there a way to filter out posts by member name?October 24, 2022 at 5:19 PM #1881352It would be nice to have more sorting/filtering options, I agree. That adds more work for the mods/admins though, so I understand if they don't want to do it. I'm sure they have plenty on their plate.
Some of "the other sites" have generation/gender based filtering options, which is nice if I'm just browsing for, say, a new hairstyle for g8m; if I know what I'm looking for it's relatively easy to search and see if it's up here or not, but it is harder to browse, especially when we get massive dumps of
outdatedolder generation content.I believe Poser still uses v4 based models, which might explain the amount of content posted, but I haven't used poser in well over a decade, so I've no idea what the current meta is over there.
October 24, 2022 at 6:14 PM #1881365Yeah..
I did suggest, years ago, using a check box sorting system, during the posting, for tagging specific base models, along with their respective hair, poses, clothes, etc but it was never incorporated.
At this point it would be next to impossible to implement the system with the 10s of thousands of posts already lacking this implementation.

It's possible to love the site, the community, and the staff, respect and appreciate what they all do, and still acknowledge and draw attention to its flaws in order to try and have them addressed.
October 25, 2022 at 3:37 AM #1881479The problem isn't him saying "hey, a filter would be spiffy keen", it's... "Dross products", "old garbage", and generally coming off as a prissy little shit.
October 25, 2022 at 5:43 AM #1881488Meh. I've just chosen to interpret it as someone justifiably frustrated venting a bit, with the hope of a solution to the problem they face.
And tbh, I don't disagree with the statements, though I'd have phrased it differently. 10+ year old assets do not front page material make.
October 25, 2022 at 6:38 AM #1881501Well I was going to give the award to myself for my Massive Files… Unfortunate Trend G9 Update thread, but the late runner Ethiopia came came from behind in a photo finish. Besides, it's not healthy to never get pissed.
October 25, 2022 at 2:20 PM #1881654You have no idea how hard I've hard to bust my hump to get my hands on some of those ten year old assets. I've gone so far as to all but rebuild some of them in blender because occasionally you run into something that's the best at what they do.
Also, Daz's current obsession with hyper-realism is no favor to me. I have a toon-y art style. Not only is it easy on the GPU allowing for larger scenes and faster renders, but it makes up for trhe fact that daz art tends to look CG as shit even if you try.
October 26, 2022 at 1:17 AM #1881798@Daishi I think, and I'm supported my many on the Daz forums, G9 is great for portrait artists but for those who don't it's basically useless. You'd be surprise how many people still use V4.2 and are quite happy with her.
October 26, 2022 at 12:55 PM #1882032@Ethiopia ... 😄
i'm completely with you, it's just ridiculous to complain and express it in such an arrogant way. especially from someone who is just leeching and not contributing anything, he should be happy to get something for free and stop acting like a spoiled child that feels offended because it has to use the scroll button of his mouse.
by the way, there's a search function on this site and if you type in "genesis 8" (in quotation marks) it will give you exact what you're searching for.
October 26, 2022 at 4:47 PM #1882105Ooof!
OP: I get it, you don't want old stuff. Scrolling past is the preferred method, since new items take up perhaps a page or two at most each day, and not much for an entire week, Otherwise, the search function actually works very well for terms like "G8F" or "Genesis 8". Not perfect, but not bad overall.
I have my (very) minor peeves as well (like missing dates on the post page, which makes it not as easy to catch up after being gone a few days), but it helps to suggest, not disdain.
Everyone else... okay, okay. Poor sod is curled under his desk in a sobbing pile of flesh by now.
October 29, 2022 at 9:08 PM #1883565I know there are people who still use Aiko and Hiro 3...
