It's that time of year again when the tech reviewers give the news a newer graphis card will be out in 2022.
For those who didn't manage to get a 30XX card this year, don't feel sad. I killed a 3080ti and a 3090 both within 3 months of purchase. Not my fault, poor maufacturing and components are to blame so the story goes around the web.
Lets see how these 40XX cards hold up because I won't be buying another 30XX card after my experience.

Rank:I would and i'm back to my 2080s after that trouble. Many say it's the power delivery system on the higher end cards which would make sense since both cards made a pop noise with an added buning smell before going blank screen.
But both cards were idle when they died which made me not RMA them and opt for a refund instead. Can't say the vendors are losing out with scalpers prices being the norm.
Rank:Not being given the runabout by the vendors stopped the panic attacks. Been there, don't want to go there again 🙂

Oh, God, you weren't lying. So I've just been reading up on the 40 series cards, and they sound great if they pan out. Thing is, I did purchase a 3090. I waited a year and it wasn't cheap, so all this talk about "a pop noise with an added burning smell before going blank screen" is not comforting either, but like I said, I'll be alright. I just need to stop talking
Rank:LTT roped me in since he's the first to know what's going on in the land of thech these days. I just rolled my eyes at the news of the upcoming cards being faster than the last gen, Yeah, depends what you use them for I guess.
It's been well know for a while the power delivery system on the 3080 and 3090 cards have given many user a nightmare. Thing is I didn't read up on these problems before buying the cards. But I'm happy they are back in the warehouse waiting to be repaired before being sent out to some poor kid who's card has also died. As a clue to the vendor..Not the cheaper end cards. Go up near the top. Not happy, just glad they are out of my hands. I'd be screwed if I'd bought them from an online market place.
The thing with these new 40XX cards is that you're really going to start noticing it in your power bills. You're going to need a 1,200+ watt PSU, realistically a GPU water block and, let's face it, probably a brand new system altogether. Under load while rendering it (PC) will be drawing about the same wattage as the average toaster. Some people render overnight or even longer. It will be like going to work in the morning and leaving the toaster on all day LOL.

@Billyhill, Do you mind sharing what the brand of cards were that went pop? I've seen a few stories mentioning Gigabyte and EVGA.

Both the brands you mentioned are the one's i owned.
I can't comment on other brands but power delivery seems to be the big issue and you'll get people saying it's the PSU which I don't believe if they are top branded 1000W + supplies like I own. All these details have to be added in the RMA forms now and I guess, if you own crappy hardware they might void your warranty or tell you to buy newer hardware.The 30XX cards are 12 months old since release so you would think the problems would have been dealt with by now. It would seem we are but guinea pigs and what you get is just pot luck.
