This Forum is for those of us who are still using the 3Delight engine in DAZ in 2021
for any reason.
Maybe you have an old computer and you can't afford a new one.
Maybe 3Delight is enough for you to do what you want to do.
Maybe you have no other option.PLEASE DO NOT DEBATE IRAY VS 3DELIGHT HERE.
This forum is not meant to analise the differences between the 2 engines
and why one is better than the other.
There are a million forums doing that.
Just make as if Iray does not exist. This Forum is meant to talk 3Delight only
and share information and links to 3Delight contents.
You can think of it as a 3Delight Community.
I really don't know how many people are still using 3Delight.
I know we are a minority, that's why we should get together
and help each other. My first DAZ version was 4.11 and been learning the basics for like 2 years now.
I recently updated to 4.15 and I'm happy with it.I mostly need information and contents (perhaps old contents)
such as Light Presets, Scripts and all kinds of stuff with 3Delight Materials
and even DAZ Studio Materials or whatever is NOT Iray.March 28, 2021 at 9:45 PM #1679514Anonymous

March 29, 2021 at 5:01 AM #1679561March 29, 2021 at 5:38 AM #1679564There is also -Wolfie-'s touchable range of hairstyles in 3Dl and iray. Over the past few weeks I brought a number of them. Even thou my system is quite powerful - been messing around with it again. Still need to upgrade my graphic card. Anyways got Caprice, Matilda, Loose Pigtails, Sleek Ponytail, Sanni, Swept Bangs, Sophia and one or two more. I'll try and upload them later.
March 29, 2021 at 6:14 AM #1679568Another very beneficial tool to have for 3DL rendering is the Age of Armour lights sets. once you set your diffuse material to 99% for the hair, there is a setting with all the lights that will in essence tell the shadows to look and treat the hair differently and thus... your system won't feel like it's locked up while it works the math for doing the hair.
Over on DevientArt, GrandSachi did all his renders for his D&D like comic strip using AOA (Age of Armour) light sets.
https://www.deviantart.com/grandsachi/gallery
and in a time when everyone was using G3, he was using mostly G2 and the v4/m4 figures and doing it in a way you didn't notice. and nearly all of the G2 figures and their clothing are built and designed around 3DL unlike the v4 and m4 where some were/are poser based with their high gloss and high specular settings. Win Win!
March 29, 2021 at 6:50 AM #1679575This looks interesting
https://zonegfx.com/ibl-master-for-daz-studio-2/March 29, 2021 at 7:10 AM #1679580Oh and I forgot to mention. One of the very best light sets for 3DL was made by 3D Universe. Back when Genesis1 was popular 3D Universe packaged up light sets with their toonish girls. (this one does not need the Age of Armour light pack)
https://zonegfx.com/jasmin-for-genesis-bundle/
Jasmin's lights are by far the best settings and usable for general lighting in any 3DL Setting.
However....
FWSA (Fred Winkler & Sabby) also sold their earlier products with light sets. One for the bare bones 3DL settings and one with Age of Armour light settings.
https://zonegfx.com/fwsa-adaline-hd-for-victoria-7/
(comes with light settings for 3DL and AOL)March 29, 2021 at 11:34 AM #1679626I got a few outfits for V4 but I can't find them anywhere in my Content Library.
Where should I look?
What am I doing wrong?
The only thing I can think of is I don't have the V4 Base Figure
and maybe it is a requirement.
If so, how do I get V4 and M4?March 29, 2021 at 11:43 AM #1679632I'm happy to read all your comments guys. This is working as expected!
I am checking all those links and the links are leading me
to other people with interesting information and knowledge on 3Delight Rendering!!!There's lots of useful information on 3Delight
if you look up GrandSACHI's DeviantArt
https://www.deviantart.com/grandsachi/galleryThank you

@SonyTony
BTW this here my own DeviantArt
March 29, 2021 at 1:25 PM #1679649Is this the Victoria 4 I'm looking for? The one and only V4???
March 29, 2021 at 1:56 PM #1679660I made the switch to Iray last year (and you can get a decent gaming laptop with a built-in 2k-series NVIDIA GPU for less than $1500 USD) -
- BUT, one of the things I do miss about 3DL is that I could render a scene separately from DAZ Studio itself. This let me play with putting together the next scene in DS while the 3DL stand-alone package rendered the last scene in the background.
A small tutorial is here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/17016/P15/
March 29, 2021 at 3:46 PM #1679692I just installed Victoria 4 3D Model Pro Suite
Where is she???
https://gyazo.com/d5aae5646a8a325f601534f4e040a1d4
Do I need another base figure?
March 29, 2021 at 7:18 PM #1679744That is actually a good idea.
Let the 3Delight separate engine take its time rendering a scene
while you work on the next scene in DAZ.That is something I will keep in mind!
Thank you!
March 30, 2021 at 10:48 PM #1680137The thing is I CAN'T USE IRAY.
Iray does not work in my computer.
Information about Iray is irrelevant here.
I started this forum to learn more about 3Delight
and find ways to get better results with it.So far I have only rendered characters
with a transparent ground and using the default lights,
3 spots: the Key, the Fill and the Rim, you know, basic beginner level.
Each render takes roughly
20 minutes if it has to optimize images (first render after restarting my computer)
and about 10 minutes if images have already been optimized in the first render
of the scene.
I have never tried to render full scenes with environments yet.
I am looking for environments with 3Delight materials or Daz Studio materials...
yeah, old stuff! -
