Absolutely unreal! Pun intended. Yeah, this does not bode well for daz. I hope it will not come with an equally unreal price tag...

I'll reserve judgement on that one.
    See how it develops.

Reading the comments, this will be free for Unreal Engine 4, and so says the author of the channel, you can see it below in the comment that comments " this plus megascans will be huge for the indies " in the answers, otherwise it looks incredible, and with impressive fidelity, wow.

"cloud-streamed"? That doesn't sound too good.

They do look fantastic and if they are as easy to create as they say, that is impressive. The one issue for me is, I need to be able to use them in a useful render engine that has backgrounds, props, etc. Most of the artists I interact with online are not using the Unreal engine for what they want to accomplish. So, the big question is can the fully rigged characters be exported and used elsewhere. Otherwise, as awesome as they are, they won't be universally useable.

I'm using DAZ Studio and I was learn a few things in the past two years. I will never use this Unreal Engine because it's a huge different software than DAZ Studio. This is only good for game creators. Either way, this development may motivate DAZ Studio developers for making better software, and more realism.

My render is more realistic then the last men on the post.

    Beautiful render @kukoricaderce !

I think the same. This software will be useful for big game companies or people with huge expertise in programming that can actually utilize this properly. I really don't think this kills anything unless you are only using Daz Studio as a character creator like in a video game, then yeah, sure this will be better, but who uses it only for that?

For 99.9% of the people in zonegfx this will not top Daz Studio.

@legolas18 Okay, but what will you do with this realtime rendering? This looks like a character creator and nothing else. Unless you have some advanced skills to utilize the Unreal Engine properly I don't see how this will top Daz Studio with all the crapload of content we already have in there. Unless this gets a lot of updates it remains just a really pretty to look at character creator for me.

It will definitely take some time to learn how to use it properly. I've seen a lot of updates to Unreal Engine though and all look incredibly good so I am personally excited for this.

Being based on a game engine it will only better for animation by the look of it.
Static images seem OK but not great.
    Horses for courses as usual.

Everything shown relating to animation heavily relies on motion capturing. At this level of detail it is simply impossible to handle all the possible parameters manually. You cannot expect the shown results with amateur skills and equipment. Never! Or let's say not for may be the next 10 years.
The possibilities look really pretending, but for the moment this is for gaming and film industries with all their manpower, skills and hardware.
But imho actors should look for a second job! 😉

I mean promising not pretending! 🙂
