As you all know we have a lot of dead post.
To reduce dead post I think we should provide more mirror download linkI was thinking to put 2 extra mirrors from now.
1. Mega
2. Google Drive
3. Another file hosting ...anonymous upload and download. So you guys have to upload in 3 file hosting ...
So less dead post ...
What you guys think ....September 26, 2020 at 6:38 AM #1631082Whilst i understand the issues, I only use Mega for hosting.
I have no interest in adding extra uploads, or tripling the upload time and involvement.
This may be selfish, but Mega has always been the most stable in my experience - only intend to use them.
This 'requirement' could seriously affect item availability, and be counter-productive to maintaining working links.September 26, 2020 at 6:59 AM #1631089@fuzzy3000 we all love mega that is why we always use them
but see when a post gets dead ... you have to post it again ... right ??
or someone else uploads it and get point ... so why not make a mirror in the 1st place 😀
Post will last longer 😀September 26, 2020 at 9:04 AM #1631105In the spirit of trying to fix this, consider making mirrors optional, and giving a point reward for fixing dead posts.
September 26, 2020 at 9:07 AM #1631106As I said - I appreciate the reasons why.
It may be a personal thing, but I am not interested in having multiple host sites to upload to.
I am prepared to upload to Mega, as it does not give me problems that others have in the past.
If it is a decision that is made, that members have to upload to more than one host... potential end of uploads.September 26, 2020 at 9:21 AM #1631108I'm struggling for enough space for single uploads, let alone duplicates.
In the unlikely event of one of my uploads getting corrupted / deleted, I will re-upload.
If for any reason I am unable to do that, I will notify for repost.( Referring to a post that was subsequently deleted: )
It is ironic that the snarky post above this comes from a member who has contributed no uploads to the site whatsoever.
September 26, 2020 at 9:55 AM #1631113@Eelgoo LOL! You are right man. He hasn't contributed a thing. Classic hypocrisy.
September 26, 2020 at 11:08 AM #1631133he is probably from one of the other sites that take from here and post on their own site.
September 26, 2020 at 11:30 AM #1631137I like what @Cage said - making it optional.
Whenever I see a dead link - I report it. But it's been at least month or so since I see one. Most of the time they are old files or posted by someone who no longer active on the board.
September 26, 2020 at 2:37 PM #1631178@martyn that is why I am currently taking with an anonymous filehosting owner ... if he allows us to use their service .... that anonymous filehosting benefit is that if one file gets reported ... other files from the same user will not get deleted ... coz they have no user system ... fully anonymous.
Its an anonymous premium service ... but currently I am trying to make it free for zone
user can use zone point and get a premium linkHmmmm I think for now I will put this mirror thing as optional ... anyone wants to keep there post for long and want to get more point .. then they can make mirror
or else as current site rules ... post will go under the dead post category ...
So no points ....September 26, 2020 at 6:22 PM #1631252Anonymous
InactiveRank:
Not sure if this is part of the issue or not, but I did report a lot of older posts (20 or so?) this past week after a downloading spree. Many were from members that are no longer active or posts from 2017 and earlier (I ended up avoiding the members I deemed not worth wasting points on). Most of the newer posts I didn't have a problem with at all. I can name names, but I wont unless you need them to clean up the blog.
September 27, 2020 at 8:57 AM #1631356Hmm... That probably skewed the perception of the problem :0/
It is understandable that older shares such as those would be more prone to going AWOL.

BTW Name calling is frowned upon around these parts.
Keep it civil.
