CV-2 USS Lexington from 1938

This is the revised version of the older file with more details. Former buyer can redownload the file.

USS Lexington (CV-2), nicknamed "Lady Lex," was an early aircraft carrier built for the United States Navy. She was the lead ship of the Lexington class, though her sister ship Saratoga was commissioned a month earlier. Originally designed as a battlecruiser, she was converted into one of the Navy's first aircraft carriers during construction to comply with the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. The ship entered service in 1928 and was assigned to the Pacific Fleet for her entire career.

This model represents Lexington as she appeared in 1938. The ship was rebuild some times and always changed their appearance. I recommend to use the Devastator from my store for this ship. Other aircraft used on Lady Lex were Grumman Buffalo, Grumman Wildcat (from VanishingPoint or Digimation_ModelBank), Vought Vindicator and Douglas Dauntless (from thunderr).

This model is available in Collada (*.dae) and OBJ format, usable for all render packages able to import Collada (nearly all actual render packages can do so) and OBJ format for older programs not able to deal with Collada. The files are separated so you can download the desired format.

I decided to skip the old 3ds format, because it's restrictions. In future I use Collada (*.dae) und OBJ only. Collada can be imported by all modern rendering programs like DAZ 4, Poser 10 and 12, Vue, Studio Max, Cinema4D, Bryce, Modo, Carrara and so on. In Collada all groupings and materials are preserved and it has no restriction in mesh size and naming. If you need the OBJ file because your program can not deal with Collada file than please download the lexington1938-obj.zip file.

The model consists of around 470.000 polygons.

Pictures are made with Cinema4D.
