All fun aside. It is not easy to/too know when to use what. I try my best to write proper English, and although speaking it comes like a second language, writing is more difficult. I never have to use English in daily live, lot off/of people wouldn't understand me, so not much space to practise either. When at school, the education I got in English was minimal. ( we were trained to be metalworkers, no need for fancy talk) And it is over 45 years ago.
I find it's getting harder to remember all the grammar...Well despite the grammar I understood what you meant so perhaps I should have shut up. As a teacher I worked with kids from all over but I could always understand what they were saying, or trying to say. If you think English is bad you should try Japanese where the meaning of words completely change with intonation. Toki Pona anyone?
Nah , it's OK Frank. And grammar is important. We had about 30 years of"revised Teaching technics". There was an article in the newspaper today that 1/3 of all the 15 year old kids were functionally illiterate. And that is in their native language....
I am afraid with things like chatGPT it will get even worse.Toki Pons is a nice idea, just did a quick google.. For the linguists among us, here is the rosetta stone 🙂
