I one am not "phobic"in any way shape or form... I have a gay son who is engaged to his partner, and they have gay, lesbian and transgender friends. But as a heterosexual woman, who finds men attractive, I really wonder what kind of freakish standards Daz and others are pushing as the norm.
Speaking to Daz vendors, I have been told that the majority of people only wish to do female only artwork, and that the overall Daz customer base are horny middle aged conservative heterosexual men...
With all the mysogeny and violence towards females products at Renderotica and RenderHub, I wouldn't like to run into these guys in a dark alley...
The ratio of male to female at Daz is about 9 to 26. You can't count the myriad of little girls that 3DUniverse releases for those same men to do their "wholesome" "family friendly" Loli type art with.
We're not sheltered from here.
As the song goes, "The Internet is for Porn" and let's be realistic Daz makes millions on slutty Victoria and little girls than on males.
Sorry if I offend anyone, but in over 22 years Daz vendors have said more than ever before "men don't sell" and most males released at Daz now don't even come with genital texture maps. Clothing morphs on men's clothing won't even show you to open the front of a bathrobe, while female dresses have breast expose morphs and flash the puss and spread legs akimbo morphs in many vendor products.
One vendor stopped making male characters because Daz upper management made their lives hell for bothering to submit a male in the first place. I have that on best authority.
I won't even begin on how ethnic hateful and stereotypical Daz has been towards ethnic characters. Hybrid Asians have been really the trend after the hate attacks in the USA on Asians. They didn't even Google the long standing hatred between Korean culture and Japanese culture they released Yuzuru G8M as a Korean K-Pop character, yet his name is Japanese, his eye structure is Chinese, he was released with Japanese Yakuta and Geta, and J-Pop hairstyles and then bundles with Kung-Fu poses (Chinese) and rendered with the Rising Sun Flag in Japanese scenery with Cherry Blossoms.
Why is that a problem?
The Koreans were occupied from the 1870s until after World War II, around 1949 they were given independence from the Imperial Japanese. They were almost wiped out and erased by the occupation. Under the flag of the Rising Sun, the flag of Imperialism and oppression by the Japanese. This is for Koreans like the Swastika is to Jews. There is a current boycott of the animated series Marvelous Adventures of Ladybug & Cat Noir as the production company placed the Rising Sun Flag in the background -- this animated series is a Korean cultural treasure!
You never see Black male heroes or see anything Latin American if it's not immediately turned into a Mexican stereotype! Folks from India are immediately Bollywood.
I have friends who have begged for male hairstyles for two decades and they are forced to use female long hair on almost everything. The makers of male hair have either stopped or refuse to make male hair, why? Because male things don't sell...Daz tells them that... It's because they half-ass male products and do as little as possible to get them out the door then run away and make 10 more female slutty outfits... I've become very careful which male items I spend my precious money on.
I won't buy Eunuchs, or cookie cutter males using the same merchant resource skins.
Remember the huge 2 generation fiasco where G3M merchant resources were used through to G8M on over 250+ male characters and from the start -- the vendor and Daz were informed that the texture had a serious flaw...dual buttholes. Over 250+ characters over two Genesis generations of males...Daz told anyone who brought it up to fuck off, and if it was mentioned in the forums moderators would ban them from the forums.
If you wondered why FWArt/Sabby no longer make males at Daz... Now you know.

I agree. I almost exclusively buy male centric items and I’ve been doing 3D stuff for about a year and a half now and that is what I mostly see as well. I am trying to figure out how to make my own stuff more that ever which is a process in itself. Which to me you would think with how hard they are pushing people to use DAZ character for video games, you would realize that more male characters would be needed, and I also wish that genitals where absolutely required with every figure. Yes you can use alternatives but you shouldn’t have to.
Doesn’t look like the nutcracker for men has come out at all unfortunately, maybe it will still but as of right now I don’t see anything for it.
If you use Male figures in your 3D artwork, like males, like aesthetically pleasing males, and wish more was available --- I invite you to give positive and encouraging input here. I've got some friends who want to make male stuff but don't know what all is desired by folks who actually want it.
If we discuss what is lacking maybe we can find people willing to fill the gap other than Daz and Rotica.
Please don't start a war -- this is about lack of male products not a thread to glorify why women's products are overwhelming male ones.

Well, there is a lot of attention paid to males, but usually among the gay set. MalePoser, Anton Kiesel (creator of Apollo Maximus), Vunterslaush (at R'otica), and others over the years have gone nuts with the male figure and all the stuff to go with them.
It's not much of a conspiracy, it's just that the biggest consumers of visual erotica/stimulus happens to be men (straight and gay), and the market caters to them, because that's where the money is.
Women in the Poser/DAZ world tend to buy and center around overly cutie/girly stuff like Cookie, Star, Buggaboo, etc. The biggest collection of female artists that I remember over the years centered around places like Thorne's old Faeriewylde site (again, cute and girly stuff, and very few dudes in there.) Not going to find too many bodice-ripper-worthy male figures posing in that neck of the woods.
Similar complaints abound when it comes to clothing for the females (yay slutwear!)
I totally get and agree with the complaint about the whole futa thing, though. It's gone way overboard. But then, I always wondered why all the dudes at R'otica were... bald. I know there are awesome male hair sets out there, and lots of them... WTF?
I remember SickleYield talking about this a few years back. She said that male characters didn’t sell because the industry was dominated by males who were only interested in young female characters with huge breasts (paraphrasing), and of course of which we now have in abundance.
As for stereotypical representations, I am against anything that infringes upon anyone’s ability to create art and speak about the world as they see it. That being the case, I am strongly against censorship and a huge proponent of promoting opposing views and ideas. The “opposing views and ideas” that I am not seeing promoted is what I find disappointing. That marginalization is what I find offensive and oppressive socially and creatively. Not the content we have, but the content we have no opportunity to purchase.
We could use more socially and otherwise imaginative characters of any kind, male characters included, so, when available, download your slutty characters here, and purchase what really matters with the head you think with. When given the opportunity, put your money where your mouth is.
As for how men are portrayed at Daz3d, there has been a devaluing of masculinity ever since the over-the-top 80s, and it's understandable at least. It's the old "the pendulum has to swing the other way" scenario, as opposed to the lesser known and much maligned too many swinging dicks scenario. "Yippee Ki Aye MotherFucker". For us white, straight, no pain no gain and emotionally distant males, it was fun while it lasted 🙂
At the moment I'm just trying to make a good representation of Cary Grant in North by Northwest. Not a problem for the lovely Eva Marie Saint. I have managed to make a pretty good Bogie and Bacall though and without much Zbrush. Not much comfort for those looking for traditionally aesthetically pleasing however, since the base character I used for Bogart was the same base character I used for Don Knotts. Ollie 8. Sometimes it's a long road but here, not so much.
Whilst I am not primarily interested in male characters, I can appreciate there is a problem with finding realistic male characters, or even those that are not over the top in some aspect or other.
That said, I do have a reasonable collection of realistic male support characters.Possible sources of decent male characters;

I agree so much with what the original poster said. I love male characters, but they're nowhere near as diverse as female characters.
They're either Ollie 8 types, monsters, effeminate, or big muscle bound guys - stereotypicial of what a lot of men think women like. lol. As a woman, when I'm creating an artwork, I like normal looking men; modelled on those you see in everyday life; a handsome face doesn't go astray either. 🙂
There are so many female characters - some of them well below par, but still selling like hot cakes - particulary if they have massive boobs or a lot of boob morphs... I know a lot of folks do porny/fetish art and cool, if that's your thing - more power to you! But some of us like to create scenes that look whimsical, historical, or fairytale like (and, no - elf characters are not the go to for every fantasy scene - I'm actually sick to the back teeth of the abundance of elves)
Now that I've got that rant off my chest; I still have to say that male characters are woefully neglected and females seem to take precedence.

but then again, men still use Axe body spray. Just saying, apparently we'll buy anything when it comes to womenI guess I can't speak for everyone, but for me at least. The coolest characters/models I've seen are exclusively male. Whether it's mythical beasts or dapper looking characters/models, it's always been male and usually there isn't a feminine counterpart. I guess it's the issue of a one dimensional aesthetic drive differentiated by the sexes. There are tons of female characters, clothing yes... But there aren't as many unique choices as there are in the male pool. Talking clothes, most feminine type creators usually go for the similar things, tight or revealing on Renderotica, gorgeous or cutesy in others. There are outliers, but many times I want something simple, or functional (A quick example, like a trench coat you would see in the movies) and they wouldn't have it for women, or if they did it was dressed up, or modified to fit one of the categories I stated above (tight, revealing, etc). I wanted my character to look mysterious not fashionable. Thus, I usually end up getting the male iteration and trying to convert it to barely work on a female model.
Now in terms of models/characters, most aren't as unique as the male ones tend to be. I find I usually just look at the materials, because those are what sell me the most for female characters. Maybe this is the case because of the similar principles that drive feminine content creators. The creators for masculine content on the other hand go crazy with the model work, throwing in extremely unique morphs, geografts and work arounds to produce some of the most interesting content. I'm a very new daz user and I've actually learned the most from dissecting these unique characters and figuring out how they work, which translates over to when I use female characters. Take a look at JoeQuick characters for example, which majority if not all are male only.If there isn't a tech limitation, I'd like to think there is a hidden limit where people aren't willing to cross when developing female characters. They need to stay pretty and more or less aesthetic or no one will buy them.
Still waiting for the male counterpart to Bonnie. Then again, if he does appear he'll have pecs and abs to die for.

Neither am I, This is all about the political and scientific agenda called Transhumanism. Dare I say more on the subject. No, I'll leave it for others to do their own research on the subject.
