Its obvious you dont live in the USA. Its amazing what people get free here.
To be serious for a moment, lest we forget.
The moderators are volunteers and do not got paid,
They take enormous time from their daily lives to make
this a better place.
It is their faces that we are aiming our slings and
arrows at.
In reading this thread from the very beginning a few things
become abundantly clear.
No one is 100% happy.
Everyone has certain aspects they do not like.
I am sure the moderators took all this into consideration
while formulating the changes.
They are admitting it is not perfect and are leaving the
door open to change.
At the core, is a sincere belief that this site is worthwhile,
Otherwise they would not be taking enormous time from
their family and friends to be here.
If you look at my idiotic comments spaced through this thread
they were done hopefully to lighten the dark mood that is
spreading.
I, for one, wish to thank the moderators for all their
hard work on our behalf.

Whose exactly? The people running the site do not provide the assets we download. They come from other users of the site.
If someone is using this site to pad their own wallets, then hey, let them.
Again, I think you're operating on several faulty assumptions. This site does not make money from selling Daz assets, and points have no monetary value. There are some ads, yes, but they very obviously do not cover the cost of hosting the site (hence the frequent $ donation requests).
I don't have the time or money to buy shit just so I can get a few points to cover the cost other shit.
Idiot. Spend $20 once in a while, on an asset you *already want*, and get enough points from filling the request + blog points to download $10,000+ in assets.
It may seem silly, but this point is important as I have noticed that in other places I can get the resources just by waiting a few days after they are posted here and the truth is that removing the 100 daily points makes this portal not so relevant, from my point of view.
Those other sites get assets from our blog and then post them on their sites. That is why you don't see many assets over there that aren't on our blog. Removing the daily points and monitoring/banning specific accounts is being done in an attempt to reduce/eliminate that happening, or at the very least slow it down. This site is the origin point for almost all pirated Daz assets.
Edit: This can be proven by downloading assets from the other sites. It doesn't happen very often anymore, but there are some uploaders here that like to insert a ZoneGFX thumbnail image into an asset folder as sort of a "marker" of where it originated from.

I did that for a long time but the consensus was that it brought attention to us. Now that EVERYBODY knows about us, we should start that again.
Whenever and wherever there is a system, there will be people to abuse it somehow. If removing the login points is meant to prevent points farming, sure, it might put a stop to it or slow it down. However it's the same as saying "someone is ripping the discount coupons from the magazines we have on our stall, so the solution is to discontinue the coupons". Well...no. It isn't a solution. It's a stopgap, a damage control measure with downsides. It punishes everybody for the sins of a minority. Ideally, we would need something to detect the farming and block the culprit accounts... I don"t know if it's feasable though.
I'm very sorry. We have a big and great community of live members here and if we don't come up with a solution to keep them here (a form of earning free points), then they will go elsewhere and only the fakes and robots will remain here.

the main effect is people who actual have a life and family will stop dropping in so often and sharing stuff. the reason I went silent was my life has gotten good for once. 3 step kids and a good woman. 3d slowed down but I have managed to rip A TON of Sketchfab models ... alot of which I have yet to sit down and convert, resize and test in daz. my work takes hours if not days to build out and test... hence why I got pissed at the posers who reposted elsewheres. not having daily points really sucks. all those dead links I never requested my points back for all the sites I saw my exact posts on. those daily point made up for all the hrs lost and content leaked out and the dead links.
@cerealpirate, all I see in your activity tab is 3 posts. All 3 have been posted within the past 2 days and all 3 are about the changes to the free daily points.
I fully support the notion that sharers are more important than leechers to the zone. If you left this site forever, would anyone notice? That's not a dig, just a question we should all be asking ourselves during these times of change and upheaval. Is it not fair to consider that, for the zone, while all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others? Shouldn't the thoughts/complaints/requests/recommendations of those who share not hold more weight than those who never share, never post in the community threads, and no one even knows they are here?
I'm not agree with the points expiring, other than that all the other changes looks ok to me.
I've been around for some time and I like this site, as well as I know I don't use to share DAZ stuff, but I share other things that I think it could have a good value for this community.
Hope our opinions will be listening by the mods here.

I think some are under the impression that your points gained for blog posts will expire, which doesn't appear to be the case.
Perhaps @warrant63 could clarify this.The expiration idea was for every collected point, because the site can't make a difference between "request" and "blog" points. Also, this idea only came up because we wanted to zero out the "tax" on the blog posts, but because of this we need another way to keep the "economy" in movement. BUT like I said, so far no one liked this scenario and I'm pretty sure that because of this we will go in another direction (like keeping or just reducing a bit the blog post tax and rewarding the approved blog posts).
We will also check if the current plugin set can tie the login reward to the user's level.
