I'm pretty sure that because of this we will go in another direction.
I vote yes to that (totally selfish)
October 31, 2024 at 9:06 pm #2099260@warrant63 Good afternoon! Can you explain this a little better?
We will also check if the current plugin set can tie the login reward to the user's level.
Thank you.October 31, 2024 at 9:14 pm #2099261I think this is about the idea of higher ranked members having their 100 "daily visit" points reinstated. I don't have an opinion on that suggestion.
October 31, 2024 at 9:51 pm #2099265Yeah, like the LVL2 and upward users get the same 100Pts login reward, but the LVL1 user only gets the welcome 500Pts with login rewards. But I don't know if it's possible to do it.
November 1, 2024 at 12:13 am #2099313Frankly, those who should have a say should be those who contribute something to the Zone.
November 1, 2024 at 12:27 am #2099315Good moderation warrant... that was getting like Monty Python.

To follow on from the Ranks idea - can the ranks be tied to something other than points balance? Like the amount of contribution to the blog and/or forum?
Let new members have Rank 1 and the 500pt joining bonus. Can access be limited? If so limit access to the Forum (or maybe just a newbie area??), Requests and Dead Posts. 3 items posted to the blog gets them Rank 2.
Rank 2 gets full access to the site but no daily points. [to be determined] no. of posts (15? 20?) to the blog gets Rank 3 and a daily points bonus.
Or maybe a 50pt daily bonus and 100 for Rank 3?
I've no idea how implementable that is, but it stands to reason that if you want to ensure people are contributing and not leeching, you should require some level of contribution before granting full access.
November 1, 2024 at 1:20 am #2099330Technical question:
With the login bonus gone, is the influx of points into the system provided by the remaining sources still high enough?
100 points per day don’t sound like much, but if let’s say 10k people log in every day, that would be 1 million points.
On the other hand, we have quite a lot of points exiting the system via the post “tax”.
Does it still add up or do points become more “valuable” because of their increasing scarcity? And if so, it that really intended?
November 1, 2024 at 3:12 am #2099351"Does it still add up or do points become more “valuable”
Perhaps in the sense that they're not being given away for free now makes them scarcer. But the absolute value of them is moot as it depends on individual circumstances.
Those who have few will value them more and for someone like me who doesn't use DS or Poser, they're only good for promoting art competitions or giving to friends. Cost, value and worth is subjective and not the same thing for everyone.November 1, 2024 at 6:10 am #2099371Speaking only for myself and my particular use case, I will be impacted very negativally. For reasons I will not go into, I am unable to buy items or even make accounts with vendor sites to get free items. (I have even resorted to request free items here for points).
My way to get points here is:
- Daily login points.
- Take part in competitions. Sometimes, there are dry spells when there is none available. At the moment, also my laptop is also being repaired so I missed the last few ones.
- I suppose I could reupload dead posts, but out of respect for people who shared said items (and to respect their wishes and also the rules), I don't.
Even though I do not get points for it, I try to give the odd answer to a question someone may have if I happen to have an answer (- still a newbie, so it's a rare event).
That said, I totally understand the problem that has been described and as those immortal words suggest, The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
November 1, 2024 at 8:19 am #2099387AnonymousInactiveRank:Absolutely no rule against reupping dead items - in fact, it's encouraged.
November 1, 2024 at 8:43 am #2099398There will be a time when the Dead Posts become diminished, but shares are being reported and taken down all the time so they'll never be exhausted. With no daily points there's a bit of a land rush on the dead links at the moment.... yee-haw!
November 1, 2024 at 8:52 am #2099403Again, what's needed there is to spot and burn point farmers. When someone steals wheels from the cars on your car concession parking lot, you don't tax people who come to see or buy cars. You hire a couple goons to keep an eye on the place and set up better locks and fences.
Changing the whole points economy will make the entire system clunky, hard to manage, hard to understand and not necessarily more fair. People who're already above level 1 will get "richer" because they're "richer" already, and the "plebs" will get tired of it and give up. And to be really crystal clear, I believe people who got to level 2 and above got there because they worked for it one way or another, because they could and good for them, no trouble there.
I can't speak for everyone else, since everyone's circumstances are different, but to put it bluntly, had I a stable income, I'd donate every month and buy more items to share. I don't have that facility, so the login points helped keeping my balance afloat as long as I didn't over do it. I'm pretty sure I am not the only one in this predicament.
This whole thing will probably kill off some farmers but it will thin out the ranks of the lambda users a lot too even though they had nothing to do with the initial problem.November 1, 2024 at 11:19 am #2099436Points collected as tax shouldn't just disappear. They should be used to better Zone. Hunter should allow them to be used for art contests, poster of the month awards, or whatever. Imagine how many folks would participate in art contests if every submission got 1000 points just for playing.
November 1, 2024 at 12:14 pm #2099451Agreed. Bonuses for participating to contests would be a nice touch; even if you didn't qualify for a prize, you get something out of it for your effort.
