    Welcome to the "Film Noir" competition judging thread!

    First and foremost, I want to give my appreciation to all who donated to the pot, and to all who entered the contest. It was an interesting road that took us to this point, but I'm very satisfied with the participation.

    The rules are simple; I have put a form below for you to follow. Simply copy and paste where directed, paste into a new reply, and give each entry a score. The score for each category, technical and creative, will be on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the lowest score and 10 being the highest.

    The general consensus is that we are all adults and that by entering this contest you should understand that your scores may or may not be what you expected. Try to a thick skin and take any score you don't like with a grain of salt, or better yet, apply it to your craft to make it better.

    The only extra provision to this process is that every contest entrant will automatically give themselves a perfect 10 in both categories. This will prevent any biases from swaying the results. THIS DOES MEAN TO GIVE LOWER SCORES TO YOUR COMPETITORS. Be honest and be fair.

    And above all, have fun!

    I said I would wait but what the hell. Please base your judging on my work and not my votes. I felt the need to explain my ratings

    Everyone gets a 10 from me for technical. I have no easy way of lining up the stars nor do I care. Other than that these are purely based off of my opinion of the quality, originality but ultimately if I like it "according to my taste". Please do not take anything personally.

    No time was innocent. Some were just better at hiding it.
    Prostitution is said to be the oldest profession.
    Heard Egyptian women put lipstick on to make their lips look more like a vagina. I just felt the image a bit to "vulgar" for lack of a better work. But the quality is excellent. And a lot more voting to go. 😉

    I'm not a voter myself and I don't like attaching numerical values to creative pieces as I think it devalues the effort but that's just a personal choice.

    What I will say is that if the theme is "Film Noir" and the picture doesn't tell a 'tale' then it's missed the point. You've just produced a picture that's lacking colour and has some kind of gangster sway to it. It should bring mystery and allure while hinting at what it wants to tell you.

    To say I'm hesitant to do this is an understatement. I've tried to come up with an internal criteria and apply it evenly but that is of course influenced by gut feeling. It is difficult to say the least to try to figure out what the mental vision of the artist was and then ask oneself if they achived it.

    I wish I'd seen the contest sooner and thus had more time to polish my own entry, thanks to all participating in inspiring, challenging and being brave enough to put your work forward, or undertake the work to host and sponsor such a contest.
