CC4 plugins - "Setup did not find the Character Creator on your computer"

I have googled every which way I can, so normally I wouldn't want to jam up a forum with silly posts but has anyone else experienced this error when trying to use installers for Character Creator 4 plugins (headshot, skingen, etc)? I am unable to install *any* plugins, and I have uninstalled/reinstalled/tried multiple releases of CC4. Just a shot in the dark, but maybe someone else has run into this. Thanks

I installed headshot vr 200 and it works fine, but the skingen plugin didn't work, same error

which version of CC? i have tried headshot 2.00 and 2.01 with 4.3.1815.1, as well as two different versions of skingen, both released before cc 4.4

I am still using version 4.33 and the 2 plugins work fine.

unfortunately, no combination of CC4 version and install location (whether on the c drive or other drives) makes any of this work for me. it's possible it's a windows 11 thing? no clue, but it's endlessly frustrating

Please remove all old versions, remove all plugins and reinstall from the beginning. In the system installation folder, you should put drive c, next to the "reallusion content" location setting, you should put drive d,e,f... to have more data capacity (reallusion content, reallusion custom) , the template location setting part only asks once depending on whether you installed cc4 or iclone first.

You can install cc3.4 and iclone 7.9, you can also install cc4+ and iclone 8+ versions on the same computer. But for versions cc4.0 ->4.4 and iclone 8.0 ->8.4 you can only install one version.

ty giang. i have completely removed every bit of the program (in program files, c:\programdata\reallusion\, and c:\users\public\public documents\reallusion\) each time, tried this with both available 4.3x versions i could find (4.3.1815.1, 4.33.2302.1), and got the same error no matter what regarding the program not being found while trying to install the plugins. i DID discover that if the setup files include the .cab files (data1.cab, data2.cab) you can use a program called
UniExtract to actually extract the files that are packaged with the setup program and copy them manually into your various Reallusion directories in the same way we do with DAZ stuff. This worked for skingen - this only partially worked for either 2.00 or 2.01 of headshot, as the plugin shows up in the program but doesn't function. So, that's where I'm at with it.

The error of not being able to install the two plugins headshort and skingen is because the c/programfile drive still has data from versions 4.2 and 8.2, you must remove all programs cc4.2 ic8.2 or lower versions, please uninstall them. Remove All cc4 and ic8 plugins and start reinstalling versions 4.3 and 8.3 or 4.4 + 8.4. should be run using the .exe file and both plugins are fully functional. The remaining reallusion temlate and reallsion custom data that you instructed and installed on drive d,e,f... or left it on drive c by default, you do not need to delete, that is the library content, Just update and add more content and when installing the new version, you just need to navigate to the location folder containing reallusion and reallusion custom templates.

Thanks giang, to be clear I *completely removed* every bit of data in c:\programdata\reallusion before installing any version of CC, and i didn't have any versions previously installed before attempting to install 4.3 or 4.33 - so my process the first time was just to install 4.3.1815.1, then try to install headshot and skingen, and it didn't work. That was where I was at when I made this post. On subsequent attempts, I deleted the entire folder in C:\ProgramData\, removed the registry keys it created, removed all the metadata using the metadata removal tool, etc. None of these attempts were ever made with a previous version of the program installed. honesty its not work for me i remove iclone and cc4 many time and remove every part i deleted every reallusion folder manually but still its not work
