@d0gg0d Just by foundation of how the point system works, it has a value associated with it. And when something has value associated with it, people will horde it. Whether it has real world benefit/function or not.
It could be turned into something other than bounties. They have been trying for ages to find a way to find a points dump to keep points circulating. Rather than expire them they could let people exchange them for perks. People with Millions of points will never use them as seen by the offers they post. Not many millionaires posting 20K bounties. They just click the minimum 500.

The reality is, that somebody with 1M points (or more) has done a shit ton of contributing to this forum... so calling them "stingy" seems a bit unfair.
Personally, I like to add 500 to most bounties just to help folks out get what they want, even if I am only mildly interested in what is being requested. Which usually keeps me in the rank 1 or 2 most of the time. When I get down to less than 10K points, I usually just go buy something and post it.
I think that despite the few hic-ups, the site is doing well, and is probably the class leader for what it is trying to accomplish.
They often say in a business or organization, that 10% of the people do 90% of the work, and I think that is true here...
Probably less than 10% do 90% of the purchasing. 10% probably do most of the 'reposting', the rest are just leeching. Which is kind of a shame because there are assets out there that can be head for less than $3. Even if there isn't a bounty on it, you can make a couple thousand points by posting to the blog.
For those crying 'poor mouth" and can't afford a couple bucks... how about CREATING something and posting it?
