    I want to create somewhere i can escape, for example:

    No internet, no phones. Just me and someone to share it with.

    @aftyrbyrn

    What are you using for that sun? I'm not familiar with the method and adding emitter shaders to a sphere fell way short.

    So the render settings are scene only, the a far away sphere like 10 or 50 meters diameter, generic emissive shader from yeah uber shaders. Keep the temperature between 2500 and 3500 depending on the type of sunset, using the water prop from the sailboat set (since it has the hull cut out) the position the sun really far away, and assign it to the sun node in render settings. Play with Kelvin settings (set the multiplier to kmd/s or whatever the k one is ... Shooting from the hip here, on my phone, playing from memory. And place the sun sphere at or below the horizon. Oh and set the environment effect slider to 0 to remove all ambient light (bring it up .05, at a time to get some ambient light, or create a volume fog to bounce the rays, which I haven't figured out yet). I forget if you do that with a sun node assigned, again shooting from the hip.

    This is eating my lunch. I can't duplicate your results.

    So I can only find Sun Node settings in "Sun and Sky". When I select that render option, "Draw Dome" gives me a generic blue sky with a gray horizon, which can be lowered. No clouds.

    sun through the clouds is nice.

    In Render Settings make sure the "Show Hidden Properties" is checked

    Look for SS Sun Node to assign the sphere

    Also I'm pretty sure he's using a Skydome for the clouds, at least that's what i do.

    oh lol, the clouds are a backdrop... I'll post the setup. I think i can reproduce it fairly quick.

    ....and.... i fell asleep while trying to recreate it lol, but i found the original. so, i'll be able to post out the config.

    One thing, i use the environment tab to establish the clouds and sun as a backdrop, that way it's not affected by lighting, since it's supposed to be the 'source'. Water is real, well, it's the mesh from that package, but any ripply wavy water mesh would work, that one just allowed for renders and the cabin didn't look flooded. I tried using real water, but that just made a soggy mess of my desk. Lesson learned.

    The reason i mention the environment tab, is that every time you load the scene, you have to specify the environment backdrop again. I haven't founda way to save it in a preset, or as part of the scene... lame? DAZ FIX THIS.

    So tonight, i'll get it set, and post a render, and the all the settings and steps i did to create it. Hopefully it will shed some light on the method ... see what i did there lol
