Every now and then, I get a creativity dry season (we all do, every now and then, I guess). These times, I try the easy solution... work with my "famous characters" runtime folders. And, here's Don Vito Corleone, with tweaked materials to liven up his aged, pre-SSS skin shaders.
Poser Pro 2014, and Photoshop post-work.

Looking good!
It's a great image and you definitely have captured his essence in his looks and style.
If I may, personally I think that the pose may not suit the style of character he is.
I'm thinking cigars and whisky hehe.Just an observation, certainly no offence is meant.
March 10, 2018 at 1:21 PM #525928That's a cool side interest. Do you have a list of all the ones you've completed?
Of course i have to add my non professional opinion.
I think everything is great but "to me" it seems his skin gliws a bit to much. Not a lot since i think darker skin shows skin oil reflections more but, its almost like suntan oil on hus face.March 10, 2018 at 3:01 PM #526056Tom, indeed, but it's the easiest (and laziest) pose I could deal with. I wanted the cat petting stance, but the native Poser cat isn't meeting standards for a proper render... Whiskey and a cigar... yes, that could be an idea... maybe in Don 2.0
Adam, it's a necessary evil I'm afraid. This character came with only diffuse and bump maps. Making a specular map out of these would need me to get into setting all lights properly on blender, and bake specular (and, maybe normal and displacement) maps, for general use... something I tend to leave as a last resort, as it takes a lot of trial and error until all lights are evenly spread to cover all body angles.
So, I had to live with color math nodes, set on white inputs and multiply functions, one taking the bump map on both inputs, and the second taking the first color math node's output. Result was a dark, very dark version of the bump map, but still with too much highlight areas on.Honestly, I wasn't even expecting the skin to look as good as it did, which kinda says a lot. If I ever manage to come with the perfect solution for, at least Poser optimized SSS renders, I'll pack the original, and my "improved" materials and textures and upload on Mega.
P.S. I have final renders of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent (she needs some work), Tom Cruise as Lestat (it's already here, the floating torso one), Hugh Jackman both as Wolverine and Van Helsing, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, and Mila Yovovic as Leeloo. Of all of the above, I'm only happy enough with Lestat, Don and Galadriel, the rest are ranging from ok to half fail... I'll be adding any ones I upgrade to proper final render status
