About damn time. They'd been posting WIPs for what feels like ages now, lmao. Kind of a shame that they don't have the other breed morphs available yet, but HiveWire Time is a really weird thing that, believe it or not, values quality over quantity (compared to Daz and Rendo, anyways), so who knows when they'll actually be out.
Say what you will about HW3D, but credit where credit is due: they have some of the better, if not the best animals out there on the market right now (that aren't fantasy related, mind you) and they're filling a niche that neither Daz or Rendo seem to want to fill. They're some of the more underrated products on the market right now, imho.
Anyhow, if this isn't on the Zone by Friday, I'll try to pick it up sometime after that, depending on when my new direct deposit kicks in (believe it or not, us new people get paid this week alongside everyone else. What a concept!), if people don't mind waiting, lmao.
January 31, 2018 at 3:51 AM #478814I LOVE Hivewire stuff. Jesus Christ. How long has it been since mildog was introduced? AM does good things, but his morphs aren't exactly comprehensive.
I've been waiting for a new dog.
January 31, 2018 at 4:27 AM #478834Hivewire is good for horses, always preferred AM for dogs and other animals. the look at my hair add-on was a nice improvement, gave a lot more realism and life to the renders.
January 31, 2018 at 12:22 PM #479205@aslag I enjoy HiveWire stuff, too. It's a real shame that they haven't caught on more, too.
They might be the more 'family friendly' alternative to Daz and Rendo, but I appreciate the fact they put quality over quantity: you maybe see a new release from them maybe 1-2 times a week. I mean, shit, they even released a new dedicated/non-morph based baby figure (Luna), when the last of such things was with the Millennium Baby 3.
IMHO they practically have the market cornered on animals that aren't fantastical beasts (i.e. dragons) and aren't made by AM. Even then, his animals are barely supported by other PAs; whereas you can find a bunch of poses -free or otherwise- for the HW3D Horse, House Cat/Kitten, and the Big Cat.
Not to mention they also have the SongBird ReMix line, as well as the Nature's Wonders. Those are good, too!
And as a side note, Daz apparently is cracking down on people even so much as mouthbreathing the name of the HW3D Big Dog in their forums: I saw a post that didn't even mention it by name last night, and it was gone this morning. Somehow, I'm not at all surprised.
January 31, 2018 at 1:41 PM #479264That dog looks like it's been chasing parked cars. The eyes are just that little bit too strange for me.

Yes, I noticed it correctly - a close and attentive look. Great, intelligent dogs look like a person. Habits, too, take over from the owner. "Labrador is a hunting dog that, thanks to its unique qualities, can be used as a companion, guide, rescuer and for searching for explosives and drugs."

A dog in a promo photo could smell the grass in a locked car.
Very beautiful model of HiveWire!January 31, 2018 at 8:59 PM #479687I think it would look better with somewhat larger eyes.
🙂
January 31, 2018 at 10:20 PM #479765@genady That lab looks like he has something else mixed in there as well. That's a really chunky head he has.
The Hivewire dog looks like someone has drawn a dog from memory. It's got all the right components but it's just slightly off. The eyes are angled up which is wrong for a start, dogs look forward down their snout as they are predators. If they don't naturally look at what's in front of their mouths then they wouldn't make very good predators. The ears are all wrong too, if a dog has floppy ears then as anyone who's had dogs will attest there is a very definite fold in the ear, where the ear can't hold itself up anymore. On the model it's just kind of folded over to create the approximate shape. Then there's the mouth, the teeth just seem to be an afterthought when they put the floppy tongue there, like a cartoon dog.
I mean there's tons of photo reference out there and if you walk down a park you'll usually a see a real dog up close so I just don't get how someone could put out a model for a dog that just doesn't look spot on.
Maybe I'm just a little bit anal though.
January 31, 2018 at 11:59 PM #479847@evilmonkey Nah, you're not wrong. I agree that it's a bit toon-ish in the eyes. Hopefully someone will make some morph fixes in the future that correct the eyes and *hopefully* it'll catch on enough to have someone make more realistic morphs.
But HiveWire's models have always had a slightly toon-y element to them (Dusk is the worst: he looks like a butterball with moobs, so I'm not surprised he's barely gotten any support), so I can't say I'm all that surprised. I guess at this point, I'm just grateful that someone is making a new dog model with the capability to morph into breeds other than the generic Labrador/German Shepherd/Pit Bull breeds. (Not that there's anything wrong with them, but that's all that was offered with the MilDog)

Yes, exactly - "like a cartoon dog"! Of course, the model is far from photorealism.

But there 354 morphs, and later probably HD Add-on will appear. And as you this: https://community.hivewire3d.com/media/maxine-rotty.2437/
