That's really pretty, Josie. I like it a whole lot. What instrument are you playing here?

Wow, real nice, love the ambiance, would make great background music for games.
    Respect.

A variety of them. They are all digital instruments. There's the lute, flutes, harmonium, drum, some other stringed instruments.

Thank you! I was starting to do a project for Skygerfall, but it kinda fell to the wayside last year when I lost contact with anyone who was working on it with me. I'm good at artistic stuff but not so much with the technical stuff like scripting.

Yea I fall down with the coding side of things but I am getting there with a little help from AI. Not ideal but they help. But do kep up the good work as your are creating some nice work.

I have no idea what it is because it's built into a free DAW I use that has thousands of built in VST instruments. It's very fiddly to get results, and I usually record individual stems and then tweak them in something like Audacity or even Melodyne. For any instruments or percussion I can't find in the instrument pool, I do all that outside of the DAW and just splice them in on a new track in another program. Most of the other audio programs stopped working for some weird reason. That's one thing I hate about modern DAWs, because just 15 years ago you could pretty much take a regular PC and install Acid Pro without any fuss or special external devices. It just worked. I could record an arpeggio from a keyboard, and then import it to Acid Pro no problem. Playback worked, and everything else. Now it's like pulling teeth from a chicken to get any of them working as is. Now I have to hunt down all kinds of user patches and hacks to get anything working and that means any A/V codec updates might break the DAW. So it takes a lot of effort to get something out of it. I even have a second PC set up for just DAWs but it stopped cooperating with DAWs all together. It's been rough.

It sounds very familiar 🙂 the good old "hacked" apps unfortunately no longer exist - oh I can relate. Making/composing music today - also requires a newer PC and sound card more often, if you want to be in the game, is my impression, that is, if you want to be more productive/have fun with the actual creation of the music you create. My gear is also hopelessly old.

The crazy part is I built my second PC intending to make it into a Hackentosh, with a sound card that was compatible with iOS, but it was too intimidating to get iOS installed, so I reverted to Windows/Linux Dual Boot. And now it refuses to cooperate with DAWs. I can't fit the sound card into my main PC build because of limited slots/room inside the case which is pretty large, but the board doesn't have enough PCI slots on the lower end, even though it has more than the standard board. I have 64 GB of memory, and it runs most if not all AAA games easily. It just doesn't seem to play nice with too many things plugged in to the board. And to top it off one of my UPS units decided to have a dead battery so I have to wait to buy a replacement battery before I can mess with the 2nd PC again. I was told I need to buy an external sound card that plugs in by USB instead, but they often don't tell you if the sound card comes with the necessary software to guarantee DAW compatibility. I can't afford to shell out money for an unknown that huge. That's what I mean by user patches and hacks that bypass the need for an internal or external sound card. I tried to find one that works but they are elusive, or don't work anymore. They need to go back to the compatibility with onboard sound cards instead of the duct tape and bailing wire approach, and a free DAW that does that would be so popular these days. As it is the one I use runs in it's own proprietary browser which means it doesn't need a purpose built sound card to function, play back or record. It just works, but it's a pain to work with inside the program itself. Like the layout, and how the note editing works. Some of it is really counterintuitive, so getting any music out of it is a celebration on it's own.

"the motherboard doesn't have enough PCI slots at the bottom"

Talk about it -same problem here - I have a brand new RME Hammerfall DSP 9632 laying around that I can't use for anything, arggh (and I had even almost bought it at that time, before I bought a new PC in 2018)

"Some of it is really counterintuitive so getting music out of it is a party in itself"

    Well described 😀 😀

This is really good. I started trying to learn FL Studio quite a while ago just to realize that for how much I love music, making it is not my forte.
