Kemono hasn't updated DAZ content from popular patreon creators for a long time. Now I'm unable to download anything. Is this the same problem for others?
I noticed that it hasn't updated for a few weeks now; a quick check shows that downloads are broken as well - it tried to reach n4.kemono.cr and then it times out.
I think whoever runs the site is tired of running it... updates have become slower and slower.
Kemono exists because patrons share their Patreon account information. The Patreon account owners discover the leak and find/ban the sharer. The damage by that time is done. We are then forced to wait until a new leaker presents themselves. When it updates, it is because new accounts have been shared, so fresh info/downloads become available. This is one reason so many Patreon accounts rely on password protected zips and/or discord now.
This is true. The sites themselves usually don't check - it's up to the individual vendors to do that usually. OTOH, the site is popular enough now that most vendors find it pretty quickly and can hunt down the leaker without too much effort.
The download part is a mystery, though - Kemono usually hosts their own d/l files, which is why I liked it. Often a vendor will go under, Patreon (or Fanbox, or Fanita, etc) deletes the vendor from their site, but the files are still there on Kemono, which was really nice (especially for the really old items). It was slow but it worked.
The Patreon archiver went south a few months ago, and their admin/dev isn't really active, so people couldn't really import anything without running into errors (plus you needed to try many times to succeed). This has happened every year so far, but after a few months, it always got fixed. But last week, all of their data servers went offline (never happened before, maximum one at a time). The site works, but currently you can only see the thumbnails and text based content 🙁 No attachments, no high-res images, no videos.
This week, the domain got renewed (it would have expired in June or July), but the Party Chan forum got removed / went offline too, so there is maybe some hope, but it's very little 🙁Sadly, it’s slowly shutting down. You can’t even download things anymore, the site’s read-only. AFAIK, the owner is was arrested for CP (according to someone in the PartyChan, which is now erased) and is in legal trouble with Fanbox’s parent company. So yeah, they’re done
