Ok, this might get a bit complicated...
I finally managed to move to a newer, more powerfull computer.
But this computer is just dedicated to Poser stuff so it is 100% airgapped. (Besides, it runs Windows 11 and what better way to keep control over your machine than NOT allowing it to go online. HeHe)But Poser LOVES to phone home, so instead of my own (paid for) copy of Poser 11 (11.3.818), I installed a cracked copy I found some time ago on this machine.
This unfortunately is an older built (11.1.1.35540), and it has a quite annoying bug when saving a figure which the newer built doesn't have.
Sooo... Is there a cracked copy of Poser 11 Pro 11.3.818 (That's the Bondware version) or better around which I could use instead? Try as I might, I can't find one.
I try to avoid Poser 12, 13 and 14 because Bondware in their infinite wisdom hosed all the legacy python 2.0 scripts. (And now they even removed the cloth room!)
Can you say "enshittification"? Lol!
Anyway, anyone has an idea how to fix my problem?
MANY THANKS!
March 10, 2026 at 6:28 PM #2166938I don't recall seeing a crack for the Bondware Poser 11, but I'd be interested if anyone can find one. I like to keep my PC well away from the nasty old internet too.
I did run the cracked 11.1.1.35540 for a while and it had problems but I don't recall figure saving being one of them. What's the bug you're seeing?
March 10, 2026 at 7:52 PM #2166952Hi Kusalkin, many thanks for the reply.
When the Smith Micro version of Poser 11 saves a figure to the library, it creates a new object file and also recreates all morphs from scratch!
It does so by projecting the morphed shape, just like when you transfer a morph from one figure to another. But projecting is not as precise as actually transfering the original morph data.
(Like the good old "MorphManager" app does, for example.)Especially expression morphs are geting messed up this way, as teeth and lips usually overlap, something that mere morph "projecting" can't compensate for.
So, if you modify a figure and re-safe that new copy to the library, NEW morphs and object files get created, resulting in a defective copy of that figure.
Bondware solved that bug by giving you a new option when saving a figure. Either keep the original object file (and the original morphs), or creating a new object file and morphs.
This "fuzzy" "morph projection" is great when you want to easily transfer morphs between different figures with different meshes, but it creates a mess when you morph or re-rig a figure, and want to save a copy of the modified figure to the library!

I COULD work my way around this by installing a cracked copy of Poser 13 (Just for the record, I also own a legal copy of Poser 13), save the modified figure as a .pz3 in Poser 11 (Strangely, when you do that the figure gets saved AS IS, without any forced "morph projection), open that .pz3 file in Poser 13, save the figure to the library with morph projection switched off, and then go back working in Poser 11.
Still, this would be a bit of a hastle. I very much would prefer to have a version of the latest Poser Pro 11 build, that does NOT need to phone home.
March 10, 2026 at 8:00 PM #2166953BTW, what problems did you encounter wit Posr 11 11.1.1.35540 ?
I'm running it on an Acer Nitro 5 laptop with an i9 and a Geforce RTX, Windows 11 Pro.
And except for that dreaded saving bug, it runs quite well.
March 10, 2026 at 11:48 PM #2166968I never saw that figure saving bug, but I think I don't get as deep into character creation as you do. For me, the original geometry option is an annoyance that I'd rather skip. Horses for courses, huh?
what problems did you encounter wit Posr 11 11.1.1.35540?
It crashed sometimes, especially if I "did too much" in the material room, like when continually swapping out textures during a character build. Applying a pz2 MAT pose while in the material room was definitely a risky business!
March 11, 2026 at 12:07 AM #2166972Cheers @medusa, I wondered if the 11.1 crack could be used in some way to activate 11.3 but I didn't dare to try it! This is good to know, I'll keep this info in case I need it. I'm in the middle of a project and don't want to risk disrupting it right now.
March 11, 2026 at 12:48 PM #2167046Hey, I'm not the only Poser user left! WOOHOO!
March 11, 2026 at 10:53 PM #2167104Not yet, anyway 😀 I've been using Poser for more years than I have fingers and toes to count them. For me, it's fast and easy to use. But if anyone asks me how to get into 3D character art I point them at DAZ.
March 12, 2026 at 4:47 AM #2167116Many, MANY Thanks, Hades, for the excellent instructions! That was exactly what I was looking for! Seems you DO can have your cake, and render it, too. 😉
*
Yeah, I'm addicted to Poser for over a quarter century, now. Still have my Poser 4 box with the installation discs and that big instruction book.
What I like about Poser is that I have full control over my figures. I can mess about with their cr2 files any way I want, thanks to the lack of encryption. And the morphbrush allows me to actually "touch" and modify them in real time, just like a real world sculptor can do with his work.
And everything is still simple enough for me to understand. 🙂
Too bad the owners of Poser got bogged down by their own hubris. Poser was always a laymans tool. Instead of trying to keep up with the Joneses, they should have made it even more easier and versatil to use. Given it options that the average user could actually use.
I'd rather have a better Poser, than a half-baked poor man's Blender.
Anyway, not my circus, not my monkeys anymore. I'll stay with Poser 11 and simple, easy to use (and modify) figures like Mike and Vicky 2, 3 and 4.
It's amazing what you can even do with Posette and Dork, if you put a little work into them! Thanks again to Hades and for ZoneGFX for giving us a place to ask for help!
March 12, 2026 at 11:28 AM #2167136Daz dufs can be edited, they just need extracting. 🙂
March 12, 2026 at 1:45 PM #2167149I did have Studio installed on my previous machine so I could export duf items as object files to use them in Poser.
I know I also COULD install Poser 13 on my new machine and use those duf exporter scripts written in Python 3 to load DAZ files directly.
But now I wonder if there is an easier way to extract geometry from a duf file?
(All I need is the UV-mapped object itself. I can build Poser shaders from scratch and also Poser-rig the prop if necessary by myself)I only come across DAZ items I REALLY need once in a while, so if there is an easy, straightforward way to extract them, I'd love to know!
THANKS.
(As for the duf figure files, I guess even if in plain text, there is so much functionality crammed into them, I'd be completely lost trying to find my way around them. LOL.)
To be honest, I haven't opened a cr2 file in quite some time, mainly because Poser 11 has all the modding functionality I need nowadays already built in. 🙂
March 12, 2026 at 2:31 PM #2167157Fair comment.
If you do want to read/edit dufs Notepad++ works very well. 🙂
March 12, 2026 at 8:45 PM #2167206Have you tried this?
Supposed to work on duf's as well, haven't tried it myself yet tho.. on my list of things to do eventually
March 13, 2026 at 4:32 AM #2167221Thank you, moffet!
A nice little standalone app that gives me the .obj files seems to be just the ticket.I#m 100% happy with Poser 11, couldn't think of a reason to switch. (Maybe Blender. But then I would basically have to re-learn everything from scratch).
But I am quite juelous for all the content support you Studio guys get! 🙂
Poser support has completely dried up, thanks to all the "clever" buisiness decisions its owners made in the past decade.
Poser is now the "Kurtzman - Trek" of the 3D world. 😉March 13, 2026 at 10:18 AM #2167263Yes, I am afraid that is true.
Even 'Rosity seem to have given up pushing it.
They have finally realised they are flogging a dead horse. :0/
That said, if it still does what you need & like that is fine.
If DS 4.24.04 turns out to be the last iteration of DS 4, I am fine to keep bimbling along with that. 🙂
