Hello I'm new here I like that we can download models by using our points, but I'm not sure if this site is safe to download models. If anyone has use this site before, may you please tell me if this site is safe to download 3rd party models even the dead post?
In what context do you mean 'safe'? Do you want to know if the files are full of viruses? Why don't you check them yourself? That's normal when downloading anything from anywhere, after all, no one who's spreading viruses, like us, will tell you that they're not safe. We'll all swear up and down that they're perfectly innocuous.
Do you mean is it legal or will an army of internet cops bust through your door if you download anything and break all your arms? No they won't and yes, this is completely legal and done with the blessings of the people like Daz and Rendo who make and sell these items. If it wasn't legal, we wouldn't do it would we? You could always go to the Daz forums and ask them...just to be sure.
Or do you mean is it 'safe' the same way that having sex with a Eswatinian hooker is safe? Yes it's completely safe because only 23.4% of us have aids. Your chances of catching a fatal venereal disease here is only 1 in 4. That's pretty low so I'd call it safe.
You don't download anything from this site. This site is only a gathering place for likeminded people who enjoy 3D modeling to interact and share information. What these individuals share, including links to other things, is not hosted on this site. What is shared is between the sharer and those whom they share it with.
Is it safe to download pirated software? NO!
Is this site safer than many others? YES!

Yes, it is safe to get stuff 'through' here BUT..BUT! This IS a pirate site and you should take normal precautions when dealing with stuff that you didn't personally download from a vendor. Run it all through an anti-virus.
As a newbie here and probably to the pirate community, there's some aspects to the 'scene' that you should know.Almost all pirate sites have a FAQ. That's Frequently Asked Questions. Find it and read it. Read it thoroughly and ask if you don't understand something. Some sites have more than one FAQ. Some sites will crucify/ignore or ban you if you've obviously not read the FAQ. Worthwhile pirate sites have a forum. There's almost always 'Stickies' in each sub-heading. Read them too.
Spend some time snooping around and reading the forums to get an idea of how the place works and the general atmosphere of the place. We're pretty easy going despite going through some shit a couple of years ago (don't ask). Other pirate sites are strict with a lot of ego problems and little tin gods. There's a few sleazo pay sites run by this piece of shit 'Phuongdzu (or something like that) that's best avoided. If the site hosts it's shared items on file hosts that require you to pay money...stay away, they're a scam. They all get their stuff from here anyway.
Don't....oh my stink don't whine about not having any money to buy items. You have a computer and internet access. You pay for housing and food, you might have a car or pay for bus fare. There's no excuse for not being able to buy one inexpensive item every few months to share here. As much as I HATE/ABHOR/DETEST the request forum here, it's an excellent way to get a pile of points cheaply. Look through it for something that you want that's cheap (like under ten bucks), buy it and fill the request. You'll get hundreds if not a thousand or more points instantly! Wait a month or two and post it for everyone and you'll get a steady trickle of points. This will allow you to download hundreds of dollars/pounds worth of items FOR FREE! Your one inexpensive purchase, the price of a fancy coffee, gets you a flood of items. THAT'S the secret to this place. It will also put you in the good books of the other folks here. We have tens of thousands of members here, most of whom make no contribution, raise yourself above their level.
All shared files are hosted SOMEWHERE ELSE. We use a variety of hosts which are listed in the posting stickie. A free account on Mega is free and gives you 50GB of storage. Get an anonymous email address to use when doing anything illegal...like sharing files. Use the de-tracker (again...read the stickies) on any file you share just to be sure. Sometimes a file is reported and the host takes it down. Don't panic or take it personally, some vendors watch this place for their items. Upload it again on a few other hosts. Watch Bunkr and hope they open up for memberships again. This one is in Russia and they ignore all takedown requests. I had one for years and finally gave it to another member here when I stopped posting (that's another long story). Sometimes your entire Mega drive will be banned. Just get another one with a new email address.
If you're in the 'Poserverse' (Yes, Poser is for all intents and purposes dead, but we still call it that), read the forums of all the vendors every day, Daz3D, Renderosity, Renderotica and Renderhub. You'll stay on top of what's going on.
FOR FRIG'S SAKES!!!!! Don't ask the same question here and in one of the vendor's forums! They'll have you pegged and may ban you and block you from buying stuff. I also shouldn't have to mention NOT to use the same name here and in the vendor's forums. People have done that. The vendors ARE in here and reading the forums. Behave as if they're looking over your shoulder... because they are. ("Hi Haseltine...you're still an asshole.")Some of us have been here for years (what..8 years now?) and were part of the gang on KAT (Kick Ass Torrents) that preceded this place. There's a lot of community knowledge, and the thousands of items floating around are because of us. Strive to be a part of it.
